i got lagstrafed a couple of times today - so i just want to make sure if i really have to install fraps again to get those suckers jailed or worse.

and yes i faced - and caught a sidestun
i walked backwards in the next fight - and caught a sidestun

i did it myself on the liveservers - and there is NO propper way to defend against it.and don´t tell me it was an accident . you got to want it to get that through and need a few hours of training to get set it off if you want to.

it just ain´t fair that i get punished for my bad internet connection this way.i know that on the live servers nobody gives a crap about it - on purga ppl get a one month ban if you get caught doing it .
so whats the policy here ? abuse of lag or a feature?

another thing is screendragging and such - always the same . if a supporter in a grp is getting an assisttrain they do everything possible to get safed.

so
a) is lagstrafing legal ?

b) is screendragging/lagjumping/circlestrafing legal here ?

I don't like it, but i got used to it and live with it.
I now know the classes and the players to expect a back style from when i fight them 1v1 and /face them. I just purge and go on.
On live its tolerated and there is not much you can do to prove an abuse.

I myself don't have any side or back styles that would be worth doing it anyway.

But you could have used the search function, i am pretty sure we already have several threads about this.

wrong.
Stun from CD side style has never been limited to any class, it has allways been available to all classes able to spec CD.

- The Ice Storm -> Tempest -> Supernova chain has been modified for Blademasters only (i.e. Rangers and Nightshades are not affected by this). The damage for each has been increased, and Ice Storm now has a short stun component.

Link Patchnotes 1.62

Couldn't find any more infos, at least not in patchnotes before 1.81 (in which i didn't search at all ;) )

Lag really spoils all of the game. Today I saw some Ns appearing. I turned around and ran back. 1 sec after I got hit by his pa.

I often hit enemies with my backstun, but they just keep running. some secs after, while I can't hit them, they stop.

I often have to wait several secons to attack, even with the fastest weapon (which doesn't affect the first attack anyway)

People with lag have a huge disatvantage which you can't prevent by banning lagstrafing :(

Theres a difference between having lag to your dissadvantage and Making lag for your advantage...

I really cant understand some of those people,
Dark ages ... Code of honour ... CHEATING ? Pathetic ...
Cheaters/Hackers/Bugabusers should be banned just for being that pathetic xD

OMFG, they are NOT making lag. Strafing is an usual movement and thatfor
legal. If you still don't know how to avoid it that opponents strafe you I recommend
you to use the search button. This topic has been discussed over and over
again. Only possibility to turn off strafing would be to disable the movement
y-axis. So have fun in moving forward and backwards. /rofl

And Raven. There is a big difference in bugusing, exploiting and for example
strafing and again im so kind to give you an explanation for exploit:

An exploit is when someone bypasses normal game mechanics, such as by utilizing a bug in the game, allowing him to take advantage of other players without them having any means of preventing it whatsoever.

Strafing means not to bypass normal gamemechanics and as often preyed
you can easily avoid it being strafed by just moving backwards and keep
the opponent manually in front of you.

You know it does not work, Sethor, so stop giving useless advice.
When someone wants to back- or side-style you and he knows what to do, he will do it, no matter what you do. Moving backwards does not work, but it will help your opponent to pull of sidestyles more easy.

This topic has been discussed over and over, yes, but its not about legal strafing. Its about using and maybe producing and then using lag to pull of Styles you normally could not use.

The simple answer is: Nothing you can do about it, get used to it and play on.

@sethor

"Only possibility to turn off strafing would be to disable the movement

other solution is to jail the one that abuse that...

"An exploit is when someone bypasses normal game mechanics, such as by utilizing a bug in the game, allowing him to take advantage of other players without them having any means of preventing it whatsoever. "

normal mechanism that means if the enemy is face to you... you can't hit is side or back, is it that that you mean?

and your description about bug abusing is YOUR description but i think is totaly stupid. as i already said: if i listen to you, using bug in pve is allowed? using the endu run bug few month ago was allowed too? enemy just had to do the same or have speed to prevent it.

if you mean normal = possible in the game. so bypass it is not bugabusing but cheating or hacking.

Strafing is hard to jail that would be much work for the gm`s... because u need to fraps the players "abusing" it.

The problem is that u cant see the different between lagstrafing and normal strafing. Lagstrafing is real abusing with chat window or daoc window ;) and normal strafing is so called "skill" on american servers and some german servers (but not all I guess). So in my opinion we have to live with that because it will look like lagstrafing sometimes if the player got lag.

So live with it and it`s no problem.
