Hi, just moved to here and wanted to know the most common mid setups... mostly for 8vs8 ?
thx |

Pac Healer
Aug Healer Shaman Skald Warrior Zerker Then fill in the rest with more Berserkers/RM/SM/BD. ![]() [3:10pm] <myrmidon^> You have to be a c*** to be awesome at daoc
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> that's what I learnt [3:11pm] <Frosty_> then why does austerim suck

Pac Healer (33 Mend/19 Aug/38 Pac)
Aug Healer ( 37 Aug / 39 Mend) Shaman (instadisease ofc) Zerker (Splitspec ) Warrior (atleast Hammer, maybe Splitspec too) Rest you can fill up. No need for an Skald, every real decent Midgroup roams without Skald since he get outcced the most time. If u wanna run an fullpushsetup, then you need ofc an Skald.

everyone can specc as he wants... but i will never understand how a shaman can skill other than red d/q... instadisease is so senseless, unless the shaman does overxtend and has a tanktrain all the time, better cast disease and ae buff shear. Red d/q is about 50-90 RA points (depends on setup) worth of aug dex in the grp. |

I was always stuck with AoE D/Q on Zerker.

there is no way a shaman can not spec instant disease. u get 8sec pbae rupt with disease which costs the enemie supps 3-15 sec to clear it. since the new DQ charges you should charge that anyway instead of taking it from shaman as a supp. and 5x4 RA points are not 50-90RA points, which is what u "safe" maybe more if u argue that u already ve dex2. anyway u underestimate the power of the 8sec inst disease which is way better than shearble 14dex on supps. |
|
for the pbaoe disease the shaman has to run into the enemies, this way dying quite often which equals losing the whole fight most of the time... i agree this is arguable and depends on how the shaman and the grp plays.
But if you run only with player that don't use charges all the time (as i have to usually) the difference between yellow and red d/q is like aug dex 3 instead of aug dex 0 for all healers, shaman, caster, savages and warrior in grp... and that is a big difference. + you get the shears together with red d/q and can skill more in healing than a shaman with instadisease. All the shaman loses is the instadisease, so every shaman should evaluate how often he uses this tool with good effect and if this is worth losing the other utility. + even if everyone charges d/q+AF all the time you will have charge timer in 80% of the fights, so no dd charges. |
|
it is 15dex/quick, which is more like aug dex2
![]() just 12 if u charge dq and if u dont use instant disease so that u ve an advantage over red dq u should ask urself if sham is the right class for u ![]() |

i think it is the other way around... the instadisease shaman just try to have an easy job. Not having to instantly rebuff shears infight, not having to shear all enemys, not cast disease on every target but instead press one key every 8 seconds and pretend they have done all they can. Instadisease shaman is a specc for galandriel, if he ever plays shaman

You look at it the wrong way holsten. Playstyle does not change, you should do cast disease just as much as you would without insta, but the thing is you can multi-rupt targets while pushing, peel pets/tanks from yourself, you can shear and pop a disease on someone who runs past you etc. It just opens up possibilities to do more then one thing at the same time. If you got time to heal on a shaman, you're better of shelling.

Zai is right, you really have a narrow minded attitude if you think specing pbaoe disease is because people are lazy to use normal rupts, they use it on top of them and it's one of the best spells. I never understood people who jerk off at red buffs, first of all you don't have conc to buff properly with them, especially if you are running more casters...second, difference is so minor that it's not even funny. As for AoE shears, seems to me that's way more lazy(and eats more power afaik) than focusing on rupting targets with single shears and shearing tank trains before they inc your back line. I know Skarz did it amazingly before, everyone was sheared before they even hit our support. And yes, shamans still do cast disease, you just get a handy tool that makes you annoying to every single enemy player and even before they run close to you, they know what they can expect, so it's sort of a mental warfare as well. "He was concerned only with the naked fundamentals of life. The warm intimacies of small, kindly things, the sentiments and delicious trivialities that make up so much of civilized men's lives were meaningless to him. A wolf was no less a wolf because a whim of chance caused him to run with the watch-dogs. Bloodshed and violence and savagery were the natural elements of the life Conan knew; he could not, and would never, understand the little things that are so dear to civilized men and women." |

celteen has convinced me with his shaman play today that the "running into enemys to instadiseas enemys" shaman rule and never die
