ForumHunter is painful to level

I made a hunter and he is level 24 it has taken me 2 days, 4 hours, and 50 minutes to get to this level (played).
This just seems horribly slow and painful. I have transfered funds and even have great gear. I took a look at my sorcerer on alb who is level 25 and his played is 1 day 5 hours 37 minutes. As you can see I am clearly doing something wrong. Can anyone give me some tips on quests I need to do or general advice on what it is I'm supposed to be doing to level? Get an XP group, that's the best solution. If you are playing odd hours, grab a healing pet(arachnite priest in myrkwood forest) and chain kill yellow mobs.

i leveled with the arachit priest pet 'till around 40, from there on it should be easy nowadays with SH raids.

I managed to get to level 25. Logging him in df as it seems to be the best combination of gold and xp and we got it briefly. Will try and xp there tonight late late-- as i work 3rd shift and can play at work.
I'm still not too sure about mid-- some very helpful crafters have hooked me up but I have never been in a group. Have spammed lfg numerous times. I see a lot of hunters leveling but not so many high level ones. I think it would be a lot of fun to make an all hunter guild. Would be something to bring to fight the ranger zergs in frontier. what would an all hunter guild look like?
 Hunter only? And what would be the sense or benefit of this? And sure if you just spam lfg as hunter you will not get many invites... which grp thinks "hmm all we miss now for good xp is a hunter..." You are better of starting your own level grps as soon as a shaman or healer is lfg. |

I level'd my hunter pretty much 85-90% solo and I thought it was really fast to be honest. I did have a couple buddies that had shamans come out a couple nights and sit with me for a couple hours, and I believe once or twice I grouped up. Other than that I hit lvl 20, went out to the frontiers and xp'd there the whole time. I did do a smidgen in the frontier dungeon. Almost zero time in DF. I would say it took me about 2-2.5 weeks of playing 2-4 hours a night to get to lvl 44. Then I took about a 4 month break to finish my ranger getting to 10L0 and to farm some items for my final template on my hunter. Then it took me another probably 1-2 more weeks to get capped in Thid and to lvl 50. So it took me around 1 month to go from 1-50 and capped in thid. That is not to bad for a solo toon.
One more thing, you cant compare classes like that. You are comparing a solo toon that is not going to get in many groups and the ones he is going to get in are not going to be great xp groups and you are comparing that to a group toon that has probably been in great xp groups at some point or another. That would be like saying my assasin is taking forever to level compared to my bard or druid. Of course it is. One is a needed group class the other is the exact opposite. It all comes back to you in RvR though when you dont have to wait on anyone and can just go out and RvR solo instead of having to wait on a group to form. |

The Midgard guide is kinda geared towards Hunters/ranged classes and can give you ideas on where to XP. Yes,Hunters are not the fastest to level, but they are not the slowest. If you dont get into Dodens/SH groups, Stick to killing werewolves in Skona/Varu, and battleground XP until lev 45.
After 45ish..head to the Albion frontier. Best place to level archers. Lots of Hills to gain elevation, several camps of densely populated mobs kill Grimwood trees ..weak to slash, low HP kill Teg Rangers ..many dont even hit you, they stand there and just die because you interupt their bow shots. Kill Hollow men, also weak to slash and low HP. They commonly drop staves worth 36gold each. Easily make several hundred gold in salvage ...and may even kill a few albs to boot. I agree with almost everything Torrential said, except one little thing. When you get about lvl 45+ you should go to the grogan camp to the north of MMG in emain. You get a 50% xp bonus for xp'ing at the 3 main RvR zones (Emain/Odins/Hadrians). The grogans are lvl 50 mobs, they are neutral, and there is way more than enough to satisfy a solo player w/out having to wait for respawn. I believe I started them at around lvl 45 and did those and Thid until lvl 50.

Would anyone mind posting a cheap hunter template? This is half assed one I'm leaning towards on the super cheap. Any ideas for better jewelry or drops would be appreciated. I believe you,AT minstrel is pain in ass,but i think warrior is much better when lvling in comparsion to AT pala. |
