Hi all. First time on Uthgard.

Is playing a caster with low starting DEX going to be a problem for me at 50 on this server?

Frostalfs :). Yeah, they are decent. Still 15 less dex than kobold, but 15 more acuity...for some more conc for buffs. Overall, kobold is definitely the best, but 55 starting dex still beats troll's 35. I believe frostalfs are decent solo shamans, your dmg spells do a bit more damage due to high acuity. Dunno, it's your call :)

Your stats will suck, but you make up for it with dashing good looks (bonus points if you're tall)

dont let people fool you, you can play a troll shaman. it isnt that bad, just because your not the quickest caster does not mean it's OMG So Bad. these idiots will tell you it is, only because it's the slowest caster. but it's a game, play what you enjoy and who gives a damn what people think.

Yes, he can play him. If it's just for pve and some duo-trio fun, it's ok I guess, if person cares more about what he likes to see than effectivity. Problem is, any race in this game can be a DPS or a deftank(really doesn't matter if played well), purely because job of most DPS classes is to be rupt bots, snare what they can and keep enemy support busy. Difference in damage between a Norse zerk compared to Troll is maybe 10-20 dmg per swing, same goes for other realms, so it's important for their DPS to play smart and no matter the race, they will be effective. With caster classes it's much different, dexterity is the most important attribute. You can land more shears, diseases and roots in much shorter period of time if you have good dexterity. Of course, a great player will be more effective on Troll shaman than a brain dead moron on a Kobold, but Troll is really a bad race for shaman. Especially since shamans do not get dexterity per level, like casters do. So, a frostie Runemaster is viable cause he still gets some dex per level + he has 55 starting dex and 15 more acuity than any other race in Midgard. I don't see anything that favors troll shaman in any aspect over the other races.

Bottom line is, if you wanna do your job properly and spend your realm ability points on nice toys/stuff that helps the group and not just shoot up everything in augdex once you get decent realm rank, do not roll a Troll :). I have a troll shaman that's just a pve bot and that's for fun, but I'd never ever consider playing it in RvR, cause it's not fun. You often need to rebuff during the fight and your job pretty much is to root everything that needs to be rooted + shear and disease the ****** out of everyone repeatedly. Starting with 35 less dex than a kobie...not gonna be fun for you mate, trust me :).
