hi all!

i'm completely new to DAoC and plan on joining the Midgard realm. i'm a pvp fan at heart and was thinking of going shadowblade.

any tips/suggestions of where to start, what to look for, etc.? are there any threads in particular that i should pay mind to?

thanks in advance!

unless you can guarantee running with groups all the time, starting a shadowblade on Uth can be very expensive.

you best bet is to try a seer or mystic class to level first as gear wont matter as much.

Alternatively beg, borrow and steal you way to the top of the shadowblade tree :)

PS mid is over populated at the moment because people tend to follow the relics. This means RVR can be quite slow.

Well, this is DAoC and no beginner friendly mmporg... so, if you really want to roll a SB from start, you will have some serious problems.

- you will not get many group invites, as stealthers are not that welcome
- you will have a very hard time to get your sb equipped properly, at least for endgame - bgs could be fun, though in last bg, it is quite competitive already

For endgame, many solo players got the best gear available, and also run a lot of pots/charges - so you probably will not be able to compete.

It sounds odd, but best bet would be to xp a group friendly char first, get to know the game mechanics, get grouped a lot, get a guild, get to know some friendly peeps... and earn some experience and also money, then think about xping a solo toon.

Just to give you some numbers... when you xp a group toon to 50, you will have earned about 3-4 platin when you ding 50. My solo template for my minstrel costs about 120 platin + 70-80 platin for buff charge, plus running costs for pots and recharging charges. If you just stupidly kill mobs at lvl 50, you will earn like 200-300g/hour (1000g = 1p). On the other hand, if you have access to a group friendly toon, you can take part at high end raids for good drops and good money.

Anyway, maybe you just go your way and maybe you will find some friendly peeps to help you started.

Welcome to DAOC/Uthgard!

I agree that a stealth char is not the best character to start. HOwever, you need to play what you want. I would also say many players dont play their character's all the way to 50, they are happy to get them to the battlegrounds where it is not nearly as expensive and dont require uber template.

After that if you dont want a caster, consider a melee dps class like berzerker, or perhaps a utility class like a skald. These are wanted in rvr and pve.

Stop down by the lower forge in jordheim and many crafters often give out lev 15/20gear, that will be a big help.

Where to starr: Mularn areas till lev 10 then move to Myrkwood to hunt. There is a thread on PLaces/mobs to level up on in this Midgard Forum

With that, if you see me in game (Torential), send me a tell...I'll spot you 50g to get started

Good luck
