First off Ty blue for getting my forum account back so fast took less then 1 min Lol.
Was wondering what type of RvR horse are out there now? :+) And are people looking for Def Tanks for RvR? is it still Basic Det5 / MoB3 / DD2? with 50Shield/50Sword ? Or kinda like live for the Def tank Purge2-3 / .. MoB3 / DD2 / Det asap after the others. |

As a deftank you want the highest blockrate I guess, so I would prefer 50 shield and depending on style use 44+ LW or spear rest in 1hand and parry. Det5 and maybe purge, moblock, grp Ras and so on , it ´s similar to live ,-) |

As Hero i would also suggest 50 Shield. (e.g. 50 Shield, 50 Spear, 10 Blade, rest Parry)
Det5, Mob3, DD1, LW1 are Standard here i guess. Get Purge2, higher Mob, higher DD, MoPain, AugStr, etc. you can take as soon as u can offer it. (no special order here) Hero isn't only a Def Tank, Hero also does Damage. Mostly on overextended Zerkers, Mercs, etc. Hero guards, slams, snares (Spear Backsnare, Blade Sidesnare), Kill pets if necessary, and also does DMG, preferably together with one or more caster (depends on grp setup) |

2h Heros on uth < 2h heros live in terms of DPS (no proof via testing yet)
I like these two specs, this one for a more defensive Hero (34CS, 34LW, 50shield, 31 parry, 6blades) and this one for max DPS Hero (50LW, 34 spear, 42 shield, 6 blades, 19 parry) |

In live i stayed 50shield 50Sword mainly due to the fact from attacks from assist train. switching from LW/Shield would leave the person i was blocking open. keeping Shield out while maxing Damage from my Onehand seemed Better then only hitting small amounts, with sword. (my job mainly being to Fallow the enchanter/Eldy Bomb. and stunning there targets then Fallowed up Snaring them with my side style )
Now if the target i was guarding only had just one target trying to attack him/her all the time, then I'd see LW/Spear being realy nice! But Also your one handed weapon skill = out your Hit rate with Shield, so a higher base One hand weapon skill would be better, I'd Miss with Shield alot if i only had say 50Shield 10sword. well at least in live i would miss alot. Now me going Full Defence doing Split spec 34 spear 34 LW 34 sword 42 Shield would be poor imo. When i was doing both (in live) Assist/MA and Defence my spec was 42 Shield 50 Spear think it was 39 Blade. now if my Group needs more Damage. I still have my BM for that ^^ please keep the suggestions coming ^^ |

You shouldnt underestimate the dmg spike u can do together with Hero and 1-2 Caster. If you time it well, to hit with Spear/LW you can max out the dmg spike when its needed to bring the enemies in trouble.
Even with max 1Hand, you wont go over 80-120 dmg max - thats just a small heal and more or less ignorable - but if u hit for 300+ and a caster nukes also - that makes a huge difference and the Healer or Cleric are forced to heal, instead of Shearing, Mezzing, Rooting, Rupting, whatever. |

Your job isn't simply to reduce damage on the caster by staying next to him and blocking, but to help the caster get free and be able to deal damage. You accomplish this by stunning and especially snaring enemy tanks. Once you have, you will be able to start to put pressure on them, by assisting with the eld. At that point you simply don't need the shield, but you do need to deal significant damage, that is why you go either LW or CS. What you are describing is basically a mere blockbot and that is just a waste of the heroes potential. And given the fact, that most hib tank setups run with a warden, you cant afford that. You will need all the dps, especially if you are mostly deffing a solo eld, because he alone won't kill too much. Him assisting a LW/CS-hero is a whole dieffernt matter. |

50 lw 42 shield 34 parry 19 blades 6 spear...
screw having the extra damage from spear if you spec more in it.. all you are gonna use spear for is the back snare so 6 is all you need. Having 50 lw gives you the option of hitting very hard and with shield and parry that high you have good defense.. If you think blades is too low just do what i do and switch between shield for defense and 2h for offense. takes a little while to get used to it but you wont be sorry. I can still guard people with shield and hit with my 2h you just got to time the attacks well.. RA's for grp- Det5 is a must and mob3 is a must.. Uthgard 1.0:

you lose a lot of damage in thrust with 6 CS. Parry is not that important for Heroes because we are rarely targets in rvr. Shield / LW / CS are vital however for dmg spikes and bonuses to your enemies armor. |

You need to decide how well you can switch weapons and how accurate you are in doing it.
For sure everyone knows that himself is able to perfom like a boss while all the others fail. With LW + Spear spec you will need to switch weapons a lot depending on your target and if you need to snare or not. That's not as easy as it sounds and I advice you to rather go full spear and do not switch from LW to Spear and back. You will have a better overview and more time to think about who you will slam next and what is this cleric doing over there etc. If you think you can switch Spear + LW + s/s all the time without any problems, go for 6 spear 50 LW. If not and that is no pitty ![]() Besides that with Spear you will do less damage on zerkers but do more damage on healers + clerics which is nice as well. You will also snare with every hit which will help the eld getting 1-2 more nukes off and might deal more over all damage than no snare + LW damage bonus. LW is gimp, go Spear all the way.
Snare+Nukes >> a few percent more dmg with a just running caster. + much easier, more overview, u dont get lost in fight and can focus on much more important things than choosing the right weapon which is as mentioned worse than just chain snareing anyway. unfortunatly a lot of player think, if it is harder to play it is better. thats just not true in daoc. |

after reading all the post think im going to open my char like this:
50 Spear 42 Shield 39 Parry. (reason is if i keep snaring/Slamming my target my guarding friend can get away faster/easier and at the same time I'll be doing good amounts of damage. ) If i get LW, and have mini in Sword/spear for snare, then my Damage while Snaring drops too low. imo its better doing say 250 250 250 damage then 50 300 50 300 50 just to keep up the snares. Reason why 39 Parry is for the DD RA, as DD does both Block and Parrying :+) and Finally with Spear i can help either Lead MA or assist it if a Defense hero isn't needed at the time. RA's Will be Det5 DD1 soon after DD2... After all that im trying to decide if i want to go MoB3 or MoParry3 to Help the DD RA. Or go with MoPain or even Purge 2 with inc slams... right now my Hero is RR5l7 and i already have my Items for Spear or LW.. just to get the cash for the 2 stones I'll need lol. My BM is so much easier to plan for RvR then my hero lol. |
