I am new to the game and interested in playing a Runemaster. What seems the overall most effective spec for leveling? Also any other info on playing a runemaster would be great. Thanks guys.

Darkness is good for solo/group. Suppression is alright for group.
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> You have to be a c*** to be awesome at daoc [3:10pm] <myrmidon^> that's what I learnt [3:11pm] <Frosty_> then why does austerim suck lordgriffon wrote:Oh by the way... ever seen a group of 8 smite clerics? Or play against a group like that? I have. Absolute devastation. The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

Darkness till level 20. At level 20 respec to supp and stay that way until level 40. At level 40 respec back to Darkness. Supp runemaster are awesome since most of the time you'll lack of healers.

I am going to follow this advice to 40 then make a decision whether to stay Suppression or flip back to Dark at that time. The nearsight lure is strong....

the best spec for runemaster is 47 darkness 25 supp the rest in runecarving (16 i think?) reason for that spec is you get the best direct dmg and blue nearsight, with the extra in rc so your base bolt will have a little less dmg variance. I wouldn't spec for the lvl 26 10 second pbt because its a death sentence to not have your run buff on for kiting.

That will be 47 / 25 / 8 8 in runecarving is not enough to give you enough reduction in variance on your bolt. Not even at rr10. So, why not going for the 10sec pbt? There may be moments in which it can be useful, and of course, if you spec for the bubble you are NOT ALWAYS forced to run it. You can choose which song to play, right?

Yea you are right that you can choose which song to play and that the pbt would have pve uses. having 3 more in rc isn't going make any noticable difference in your variance. I guess I ran that spec because I didn't pve and even a small increase in my bolt dmg would be welcome because I used it a lot in pvp.

Having any kind of pbt is more important in rvr than ****** bolt(broken on uthgard). Even if it wasn't broken, few points more in a line you technically don't spec is never more important than an ability you can use like pbt.

47 dark is the spec I used up to very high rr with my RM. It is the only way to play IMO. The nearsight is plenty, the PBT is fine, and the nuke is gorgeous.
Dearyo Drum <Rare> - Midgard Realm ranks don't cure stupid.

If you are playing solo RM in a group the suppression specc is alot more appealing. You lose out on some damage Dark > Sup Specc Nuke but you gain red NS and 6sec pbt. If your group is running 2 runemasters I wouldn't suggest playing with 6sec PBT.
