I was just wanted to know which class would be the easiest to start with. I have never played this game before, although I have played other MMOs. I usually prefer to be a melee DPS class. I was thinking about going Midgard but I don't really know.

I mostly ask this because there are A LOT of classes.

All and any help is very much appreciated.

Hi mate,

Imo, You can try Mercenary (Half ogre or Highlander), Friar is good too if you are a solo player and can make a decent damage with it , but if you would play a DPS melee class,to be honest, if i were you i wouldn't go to alb to up a dps class but mid yeah ^^ But i'm not you !

On mid you can test by yourself the savage, zerker, Warrior.
On alb, mercenary, armsman.
On Hib Baldemaster, Hero, Valewalker.

But daoc isn't like the other mmorpg, your damage can depend of your race for instance ! Troll have lot of strengh but he's very weak in dexterity, you shall have a lower block rate than a Kobold warrior who has more dext but you shall make much more damage.
Finally if only the DPS interests you test the class that i quoted with Troll,HalfOgre,Firbolg.

I hope you'll understand my speech ! lol

Hi,

Here a short review of all melee class belong midgard.

* Skald is an hybrid tank using weapon and some chant to help group (like speed, regen health etc) and also some instant dmg spell (and few other).
Quite easy to manage, as good in group as in solo, and also both pve or pvp.

* Berserk is a damage dealer, fully skilled on his weaponery, usually weilding 2 weapons. This class take all it's power belong groups.
Will be not that easy to level it in solo but not impossible.

* Savage as the zerker is a damage dealer, using some special magic draining his life to be more powerfull. As the zerker it become really powerfull by group and hard to level solo (long rest time particualary if you use his magic).

* Warrior This is the defensive fighter of the realm, but can be as well really deadly. Whith his shield ability and weaponery, after a certain level it will become really easy to level.
As both previous class usually better in group.

* Thane Thane is also an hybrid. The diference is the Thane can use shield and have more damaging power and also some self augmentation spell. well played it's a good chat that can be offensive or defensive (usually many ppl start with this class).

By the way, you should request ppl arround if they have some low equipment to spare or request a guild to invite you.

Good luck,

Pirith.

to begin on daoc, if you are alone, and already played others mmorpg, i would sugest you skald, warden or friar, cause they are good enough to play solo. and you ll be often solo in the first levels.

but they can be a bit more difficult to play than others chars.

there are others chars that can be "easier" to play as pure fighters or archers.

I suggest you to take a full tank.In midgard > Warrior,in hibernia > Hero ,in Albion > Armsman. They are the best characters to start daoc with. Not hard to play and can take a lot of damage so you get enough time to learn the gameplay.

There is also a lot of frustrating down time with those classes, but thats my opinion.
