Maybe instead of jailing everyone they should work on building a good core of new players. Ive been here a month and posted Looking for a Guild and nada. Seems that people just wanna talk about jail.

Is this a German Only server if thats the case I understand. Via Mirc ive spent hours in the #uthgard.en server and no one said a word other that (Midgard has taking such in such) via my friend the Bot.

Im not trying to make a rant here Im just observing what a new player see's thus far. I have met some nice people that seem to be in the same boat too.

On a side note who here Believes in the Loc Ness Monster???

I believe in the LocNess monster...sometimes when I take a bath it shows up

But to stay ontopic...first of all you can say that the staff currently consists
of only german people, but this doesn't automatically mean that players of
other countries aren't supported. The jailing/punishment system is needed
to prevent people of buffbotting/exploiting/cheating. If you ever played on
live servers you maybe know how devastating buffbots ****** up the gameplay.
A thing i mentioned is that some jailed players say thet they...

"...didn't know buffbotting wasn't allowed"
"...the player of char X is currently afk and will be back soon"

I can only give the advice to check out the staff-announcements within
forums when you join a freeshard. There are always rules and not
reading them does not make you untouchable. If a GM doubts that there
is a real player beyond a ingame character he can't do nothing than to
jail this char to prevent buffbotting.

This job is mainly done by GM Nayru and I respect him for doing a kinda
obnoxious job!

If you want to find a guild, the best possibility is to talk and to group with
players ingame. It's much easier to talk ingame about your expectations
about the guild and too actually see if you as a person fit into a certain guild.
Just ask around in game and im pretty sure you will find a nice guild for
you and your friend.

Hi,

just get your own impressions of several guilds by talking to players. Leveling and RvR in groups can help you with that. Sometimes there will be players who you really like. That's just a question of time.

For the IRC issue: Apparently there is no action in #uthgard.en, but there is always action in #uthgard. Even if it was thought to be the German channel noone will kick you for talking English in there :)

Thanks for the fish, Sethor!

I talk to you every day Nayru for im Defiance.....

I am the Howdy guy in #uthgard chat and I do talk to people everyday. Also have talked to other people in that channel and they flat out told me most Hib Guilds cater to Germans only. That's not just my view its been know for a while.

Like I said Im not trying to rant although it may sound like it just giving a new person's prospective on this game via 3rd party (aka non German player)

As far as MIRC Chat ive got to know (although limited chat only) Several nice people and have been very helpful. The staff for the most part do a fine job. Ive read through the post here and Ive seen Jail in almost every topic ive looked at. That was all that was meant there.

Now you all know the dealings on this server alot better than me so the (just get to know people) and there will be several guild options for you is like smoke on the water. cause from what ive seen that dont happen.

The Grouping (find player dont seem to work) and that would solve alot of problems as well for new players.

Off topic what about Big Foot???

Mate, I'm RL 2metres tall and have to buy shoes size 49 (US 13-14?) ^^
Of course I believe in bigfood...I'm a tiny Sasquatch myself xD

In terms of finding players to group with I can only recommend the following
commands:

/who 20 30 -- this will list all online players within level range 20-30 instead of 20 30 you can of course use other levels

After this just contact the players you got listed. Sometimes a few are in the
same dungeon/region which means they are obviously in a group and you could
maybe join them.

About Hibernian guilds on uthgard i don't know really much...except on how to
kill them all :hammer:
Maybe some treefriends are willing to talk to you ^^

Same for Albion (United Blades and French Blades) and Midgard (Norsk Natives and Insanity) and the guild Nomad Jarl is also speaking English afaik.

So language shouldn't be the problem, just decide where you like to play most. :)

This channel was created because people complained about too much German in #uthgard. However, since its creation it hasn't been used intensively... :( Don't know if the people who used to complain have now left the server or if they did decide to live with the German.
Happy hunting!
