If Uthgard 2.0 comes alive, i'll playing a duo with friend that never player DAoC before.

I am thinking about making a bard + VW or BM duo.

i am not sure yet if BM or VW rly... for PvE both are nice,i think for PvE VW will perform better than BM but on RvR, on the long run BM will be better since it has slam + det + pf, but after years of doing what its better on RvR... maybe i can try something diferent, you know to have fun!

If go for VW , will be Celt with 15str/10con. Sorry but Firblog is very ugly xD.

If so.... its rly a must go 50 scythe? since the lvl50 is a 4 off chain combo and will be really hard to land.

Will be better 48 arboreal(last haste), 44 Scythe(back stun) , rest parry?

Or will dump much the melee dmg?

About ras, well we see when it comes but.. with old RAS .. at rr5, will be something like this:

(2) Augmented Strength
(2) Augmented Dexterity
(3) Mastery of Pain
(1) Purge
(1) Defender of the Vale

Bard BM is a nice duo. VW isn't worth worth the time.. not even for PvE.

Are you sure that guy who never played DAoC before will play the Bard? Think about that for a minute.. it might suck..

Ofc i know Bard BM is nice duo, one of the best... played both on live. Althought BM was on PvP (Camlann).

Well i am about 75% sure i'll play bard , and is a class that i played onlive but i dont mind playing it again and also is harder to master for a newbie than BM or VW.
But everyone learns sooner or later, and that process can be really fun ( or not) and doesnt need to be the n1 bard of the server, that mezz and rupts ppl only with his mere presence

One of the problems is that i may play more than my friend at start (unless they open the server after summer ), so i am sure it will exist a lvl diference and on PvE, and you know how bards pl ppl . Ofc i can make an alt but thats not the point.

But why VW is not worth? Ofc BM has more 8 man utily, but the VW isnt handless... he got a Scythe!!

If we were talking 1.8X I'd agree that Bard+VW is a nice duo, 1.65 VW has ugly long style chains, no disease, no det, low wf on a slow weapon, and basically no RAs worth getting. Since the main gamble in this duo is CC+frontload, both BM and VW can do well here. It is what happens after that where the BM will turn out on top, with slam, snares, det, and dual weapons to penetrate shields.

No disease? oh i thought had it... that can be a issue beacuse its really and advante, since it slows ppl.
Well slowweapon, its not a really problem with the haste buff i think and will help with the dmg. But ofc the rest of stuff DW ad RAs outstands the VW. The chain styles that bad is it? cant remember very well since never played a VW on live.
But i remember for example, that the anytime of BM (hurricane) sucked a bit, with very high end use as anytime and the dmg was higher with squall since you could land more styles before getting out of end.

Well will think about it, since we have a lot of time to think about it xD, till the server is up.

The thing is that wanted something different than BM , but ofc i dont wana cripple the duo with a bad combo that cant kill anything, like bard + warden...

There won't be many 2vs2 fights per day, so you should roll a duo which can be extended to 8 man easily.

Vw got diseaseproc which has 30% chance to land (if you go for 36 Arb... the last proc at 46arb would add another 5% chance)
Wild arcana will enable chance to have crit disease ( if they implant it correctly ^^) AND critchance for your styleprocs( nice for blizzard blade)
VW isn´t that bad ... if you are able to manage the mezzes

Wild arcana + proc sounds good .

Yeah mezz will be a problem, but with caster too and ppl recomends it so...

Also GreenP, since you seems to have a VW... you see spec 50 Scythe as a must? Not for the lvl50 style, just for the buff to WS/DMG.

I was talking cast disease.. The weapon proc is nice, but inconsequential in a 2vX situation (which is what you ultimatly targeting with such a duo), when compared to the utility of cast disease.

If caster I'd pick light eld.

Well still better than nothing. And They will get the insta snare right

With Eldricht will have to deal with 1 problem more, nearsight! With this ruleset with no cure ns and lots of stealthers, i think melee oriented dps in duo will perfom better.

To keep on topic, possible specs for that duo:

50 Scy 38 Arb(yellow haste) 20 Parry
49 Scy (since wont use much the lvl 50 style) 43 Abs (110ph Ablatibe proc) 10 Parry.

Agreed, melee > caster. Esp. if mana reg and refill options are 1.65.

Ench bard is a good level combo though thanks to petpulling. Only topped by menta ench. For the rvr leeching part eld is defenetly better though

I was 50 38 20 since i wanted to have max. meleedmgoutput/spikedmg on my bolg vw for duo(rarely) and mostly smallmen or 8vs8^^ But back then the lvl50 style was a followup of an anytimer on uth, too bad its gone for patch 1.65

I would probably try 44scythe 48 arb 10 parry or 44 38 30

Celt or tree. Faster hitting/nuking vs slightly more melee-/nukedmg. Not that big difference.

But the very few VW that got invited to grouprvr on uth 1.0 were mostly celts or bolgs, maybe that had no meaning idk
So i vote for celt if

VW + Bard is a very nice duo BUT...

- it'll be extremly hard to stuff the VW (w/o SI)
- 1.65 = old RAs = no deter for VW with a purge of 30 min cooldown

so maybe run as Bard + BM, and let the newbie play the BM and you the bard. Bard is extremly hard to play, more with old RAs
