If Uthgard 2.0 comes alive, i'll playing a duo with friend that never player DAoC before.

I am thinking about making a bard + VW or BM duo.

i am not sure yet if BM or VW rly... for PvE both are nice,i think for PvE VW will perform better than BM but on RvR, on the long run BM will be better since it has slam + det + pf, but after years of doing what its better on RvR... maybe i can try something diferent, you know to have fun!

If go for VW , will be Celt with 15str/10con. Sorry but Firblog is very ugly xD.

i found this character builder, that seems fitted for 1.65 :

nixianplay(dot)com/index.php?page=charbuilder&class=valewalker

If so.... its rly a must go 50 scythe? since the lvl50 is a 4 off chain combo and will be really hard to land.

Will be better 48 arboreal(last haste), 44 Scythe(back stun) , rest parry?

Or will dump much the melee dmg?

About ras, well we see when it comes but.. with old RAS .. at rr5, will be something like this:

(2) Augmented Strength
(2) Augmented Dexterity
(3) Mastery of Pain
(1) Purge
(1) Defender of the Vale

I played both a BM and VW for years, Both are good but i ended up switching to my VW and had alot more fun, especially back in that time frame of what this patch will be.

Both are great for 8man but in duo or solo i would say go VW. VW has all the tools and a huge back style stun. After bard mezz you can backstyle stun or wait for them to purge then stick to them as they go for the bard and back stun. Then the VW side chain will kill anyone before they come out of stun, side chain is massive damage with a huge aoe proc on the last style.

1v1 or just engaging a target face to face VW is stronger, Higher evade, higher parry, more af and absorb. Also VW evade and parry chain are much more damage than BMs. VW can also manage endo much better.

On top of all this you can also lifetap, you would be suprised how many peopel you can actually lifetap to death in keep seiges or defense. You also have a snare spell so none can get away. youa lso have a style that blocks all arrows.

Do NOT go 50 Scythe, that was only a decent spec later on after they added a big DD to the 50 scythe style. All you need to do is go 44 scythe, then it was something like 45 or 46 arb and that let you still be decently high in parry which is twice as effective as 2hand.

Back in the day my VW had Dodger and parry and was almost untouchable while facing my attacker and i could always do devastating counter chains.

even in 8man fights the assist train would get on me, if i faced them they had a tough time hurting me and 1 healer had no problem keeping alive, And im talking about 4 melee dps on me.

Anyone who says BM over VW never played a VW. I played both BMs are still good and fun, just not on teh same level as a VW

^ THIS
dodger and Parry on a VW is ridiculous .. also a GREAT starter toon because they are very cheap to maintain... even with crap gear they can still chain pull blues.. with great gear Oj's... VW are probably my single favorite class out of any MMO I've played.. but then again it could be DaOC Is soo nostalgic and Ive had soo much frustration and fun playing it

I want to play a vw for a first toon maybe. I am just not sure if I would be able to find groups for rvr. Isn't the lack of determination a big bummer for this class? i guess rooting wont be as big of an issue for him, cause he can still cast dd spells, but worried about the big mez. How many seconds is the immunity timer for mez last by chance?

VW was playable at high RR in uth 1.0 because of purge 3 and the free RR5's RA, and conflag as anytime after the detaunt.

In 2.0 aka 1.65, it won't be the same... Deter is a very very very important RA...
In opti 8v8 grp VW take a slot for nothing, it's the same for champ... They won't be invit. "why do we have to nerf ourself by grping you?"

Imo if you don't want to have any regrets leave hybrid class.

most of the people answering your questions are idiots

valewalkers are great, they don't get determination but you can just get purge instead

don't be so easily influenced, ive seen valewalkers rip people to bits.

Sure VW's arent want they are on live but old RA's during help them out. Everyone is going to need a starter/farm class. If you're tired of playing bomb classes -or like me simply don't like playing mages-roll a VW.

Still fun and in RvR can peel with the best of them and can lock down a healer with 2 instas and a LT even when rooted. Rear and side, stun/peel styles and if they can get their side stun off-hey in RVR weirder things have happened, you can straight 1 shot most classes that don't have heavy buffs.

for PVE I recommend dodger/Moparry/MOpain/serenity(MCL) and you'll only be resting for endurance. Once you get some RR's under you, purge and IP help lots. with Dodger and + moparry if you keep your enemy in front of you and once can master side style landing you'll rock 1 v 1's even 2v1's.

Don't go by what others have stated, you'll absolutely eat up Mid leather and RF wearers. At range even moreso. And unlike most melee classes, you're actually useful during keep raids/defenses.

Easily my favorite class in DaOC
