Nezix - 50 Minstrel <The Band>

Merlin: Arthur, what is best in life?
Arthur: To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their Lurikeens.

Tradeskills
I went to check this site listing the tradeskills that each class can do, scroll down to the table where it says "Associated Skills" and you will see how much siegecraft each crafter can get. You need at least 500 in main tradeskill to start siegecrafting.

No you need 500 in each skill to make various parts for siege stuff. You can buy those parts from merchants but they're cheaper if you craft yourself. You only need any non-Alch/SC tradeskill to have siegecrafting and use it.

On Uth 1.0 I skilled up a little bit by making the ammo so when putting the ram down I didnt get a failure for having such low siegecraft skill. You can do it without skilling up any, but it just might take more than one try.
