Hi,

Gonna return to Uth when it relaunches. Looking for char to use for farming. I'm posting this message here to ask you friars if what I am looking for might be the Friar :D :

I've tried doing a matter caba before as farmbot on an account and I hated it. This was due to the fact that it only works for solo-farming which I found boring.
I want a farmbot that can both do solo-content if required (like Dartmoor-farming), but also be accepted into raid-groups for Dragon, DF-raids (also dia-farming), SH (and eventually Sidi).

- Would Friar with 35 or 44 rejuv fit the bill (for the Heal-over-time)? Or am I better off rolling a pala or a theurg?

Thanks in advance

You may be useful on dragon raids due to heat-resbuff. But for anything else, don't know, maybe as basebuffer. Not really that good as a groupchar for raids.

Just my opinion.

the class you want to roll is definately a pala here. performs well in all tasks you mentioned.

I was planning on rolling a Friar but due to their inability to RvR I guess i will move on to something else.
Guess I am just posting this in hoping someone will give me a reason to play one lol.

sadly im afraid there is no GOOD reason to play one other than nostalgia and/or liking the concept of the class.
i feel you, its very hard for me to say no to a friar as well :>

Friar's are great in PvE, easy to level and cheap to template at 50.
They solo kill(& level) much faster than any class (except cabalist/necro).

This is the Spec range i would stick in:
39 - 44 staff
45 - 49 enhance
7 - 18 rejuv
rest parry.
for a balanced friar try: 39staff, 47 enhance, 18 rejuv, 16 parry.

Previously on Uthgard i could easily solo red dartmoor mobs, and would almost always go a high staff spec because Rejuvination is a terrible speccline at this patchlevel. I leveled tailoring to salvage in dartmoor.
Duo's with Pala/Reav/Arms are great, even a scout/merc can work too. You just need to be guarded.
I remember duoing Moran the mighty regularily.

The major downside of a friar is that they don't perform well in 8v8 or keep RvR. (smallman RvR or 1v1, they're well balanced but if their 1v1 opponents (or their groupmates) have access to buffpotions/charges, they fall below par there also).

I can't wait for live to re-launch my friar. :)

We getting old-school dodger? Friar with dodger 3 can take out just about anyone 1 on 1

yes. friar will be an evade machine....but by the time your target dies you will probably get mowed down by 2 zergs. the deepz is absolutely not real.

So, what spec would be the best for a full pve friar, mostly solo.

I'd probably spec

44 Staff, 45 Enhance, 7 Rejuv, 18 Parry
for solo farming and make sure to get those passives going early. Dodger, MoParry, MoPain II-III

39 Staff, 46 Enhance, 8 Rejuv, 25 Parry
for mostly solo farming and being able to attend DRs...maybe even go 2 pts higher in Staff and ditch the extra parry for more wf/deepz. i also dont feel like the last haste is worth that many points - some people might think different.

not an expert, so take it with a grain of salt.

Solo the friar is a god compared to other melee classes with a high staff/enh spec. That said, you have to have Dodger 3 or it doesn't work. With parry/pain 2-3 you can solo farm diamonds and camp AMG emain praying some poor assassin wants to try you (mistake).

For high end raiding, people will be looking for HoT and Heat Resist. So pick your path if you don't want to respec 100x.

I've heard different opinions on this. On Genesis it was strong (the HoT) and Friar were generally invited for raids, but here, idk. Are you sure bout this ?

The Hot was borderline useless on Uthgard 1.0, I think that was more livelike than Genesis. However, someone should test it.

I will and make a feedback, i m currently leveling a staff/heal friendly grp friar which i ll respec at 40 (i ll keep heal at 24, lowering staff to 29 and raisins buff to 46 and then staff to 39)

If it is useless i might go 18 heal rest parry or even 8 heal rest parry.
Depends if people expect the friar to heal only on dragon raids.

Plz tell me if you know
