Hibs... How bad does it suck running to Emain every time?

I'm tempted to play Hib, but as someone who only played Alb in OF, I have no idea what it's really like having to slowboat all the way back up to Emain to find action every time you die... Is it really as horrid as it sounds? How does it work out with the timing of port-ins from the other realms?

This alone might deter me from actually rolling Hib :( Can some of you long-time Hibs put this is perspective for me?

I was thinking about that too, but I'm thinking that the keep system will have all 3 frontiers populated more so than before
Or at least hoping so, to offset that run every time

When I used to run it without speed, I would auto run in a direction (stealther) and do other ****** while I wait to get there
With speed, it didn't seem too bad

Hasteners at keeps would be big help

from a bards(/groups) perspective: no difference if you wait for port or stick to the driver and maybe even get an earlier inc, just sucks for the driver ;)

and you re more worried about that something that made you /rel than port-in timings ^^ because that something knows where you will be/drive by next

To me it didn't really make any difference during Uth 1.0. We had quite a few incs on our way to Ailinne/Cruachan Gorge too!
(actually, A LOT of incs in CG)

Try to call for a rez and you won't have to run back

I don't think it was that bad, sometimes it was even fun when you knew there was enemies around. This is from a solo perspective, played a ns on uthgard 1.0

That run is what made me quit Uthgard 1.0

They fixed it near the end though, I wish they kept that fix :(

doesn't make sense for hibs to have such a time sink.

Porting to Emain is also a timesink.

Hibs don't have to. They just buff up at Ligen and get to running.

The difference is that the Albs/Mids sometimes can sometimes get lucky and port instantly after wiping.

They can also get unlucky and wipe just after a port. In those cases, Hibs should be able to reach the middle of Emain before both Albs and Mids. If they all wipe at the same time that is.

I don't think it's a problem, time-wise... It just feels worse because you have to stay active during the whole run, because you may get jumped. Whereas Albs/Mids can go AFK after they've equipped their medallions and just calmly wait for the porters to show up.

It's not too bad if you are running in a group with a bard. Sometimes insta-action in Cruachen Gorge or Briefine if albs and mids get adventurous.

On the other hand, if you play NS or ranger, or fancy a solo expedition, it can be a drag. It's a long ass way to AMG where a lot of the action tends to happen. And only takes 1 or 2 sad feckers to camp the road/route there to make it a misery.
My mind’s made up, don’t confuse me with facts.

considering everytime your 8 man dies and releases back to mid or alb and you lose people, by the time you find them and wait for the port its probably even more time then hibs running back

and as someone mentioned we get pvp on the way, because the goal of almost any group is to get to drum ligen

The thing is that when Hibs have to run, cruachan gorge and breifine will be crowded with enemies aswell, so not all of the action evolves around Emain. I think it is good, with the exception of solo players.

How will you even know where you are without a map?

Players can greatly contribute to a server if you let them.

Uthgard, still the best server. Thanks, Devs.
