This is the perspective of a hib tank (hero).

I assume you want your server to be appealing enough to have people play it, so maybe this opinion is worthwhile for you to read.

Currently level 45 after a grueling few weeks, I generally do not get groups. Not by choice. I usually message every single bard, druid and warden online asking if they need a hero in the most polite way possible.

It generally doesn't result in a group.


So.

Leveling solo is terrible.

Unbearable.

I'd rather walk into the other room and cut something. Myself, maybe.


I generally ask everybody I see if they would like to group. My most memorable reaction was a fellow in some dungeon, a warden, who ran up to me and looked at me. I asked if he would like to group, and he turned around and killed himself.

Great.

To summarize, hib tank leveling is terrible. Everyone wants to run a focus shielded pet into some mobs and make level 50 ments, chanters, bards and druids. They all like to flop to any sort of rvr competition as well. Shocker.

The majority of me soloing is due to the level gap experience problem. I could group with my friends if this was not a problem. So could everyone else. Notice how the population has decreased lately? I'd wager people are getting tired of not being able to group with their friends because of a few levels difference. This wasn't in this version of the patch, so why is it in now?

I'd like it fixed, personally, so I could level with my friends.

A good rule of thumb that our guild has noticed is 20% of the level between highest and lowest, so as you level up the gap gets bigger and less punishing. If you have a 30 then lowest grouped could be 24, 35 would be 28, 40 would be 32 etc... I know that the staff have said that this is a priority to fix, so in the meantime there isn't much you can do about it. They have made it a priority to fix before live comes, which is great for everybody as we don't want to be limited by our levels to play with friends.

Also, my suggestion to you would be to find a solid guild of good bros and broettes to group with. Our guild, Nemesis, always affords 1 slot for a hero because we know come level 50 raids or RvR a hero will be needed. Not to mention having something meaty in the group to taunt adds or loose mobs is always better. Is focus pulling super cheesy and easy? Yes of course, but you can't focus pull dragon/legion/mid melee trains. No point to rush to 50, so we can wait for our tanks to level up.

A focus pull group only needs chanter, ment, 1-2druids to be effective which is only half the group, so it SHOULD be easy to allocate a slot for a hero/bm (no NSs allowed! )

The attitude on Hib sucks overall, this is my first experience playing through Hib and I have never seen so much elitist class bias in a faction previously. I was looking for a DF diamond farming group earlier today and due to being an animist I was informed I could not join because shrooms are broken and will only wipe the group. I feel your pain, thankfully I have an awesome guild to group with, so I don't have to rely on the class bias of random groups.

I wish you luck, and I am sorry this attitude has become the norm.

Just an aside about the drop in population. I'm not disputing it's gone down a bit but I think that's more attributable to the "new" being worn off the beta and now people aren't willing to invest a lot of time in characters that will be wiped eventually. As a ranger though, I agree with you that finding groups in Hib can be ridiculous. A lot of times when I send people tells asking if they have room they don't even answer me and I'm rather sure that's because of my class. Oh well, I'm outleveling many of those jackasses and doing it solo so fack 'em.

as soon as you hit 40, thats it. GG. all druids mentas bards want fins xp. all pbaoe want fins xp. fins xp dont want tanks. theyll occassionally let one leech but thats usually a guildie of the leader or a friend.
there is another lvling spot which requires ani's, but again room for 1 tank only. making a tank grp is near impossible too because no support want to.

hey Glaek, ive leveled with ya before out in CM, and i agree it seems rough for tanks.

Im one of those people who chose a chanter at the beginning of beta, but my intentions were more for being able to farm specific bosses with a menty/druid at 50 to get the gear ill need for other toons.

Then I forgot the grind from 1-50 is painful enough once, so I'll skip playing a chanter and probably join you in Hero land once live hits.

I also feel incredibly naked playing a chanter in rvr, as i have little to no utility (compared to light eld im used to)

Sorry youre having bad luck getting grps, it definitely seems to be a recurring trend on Hib and we really need tanks in rvr.

Back when I played, 3 tank 1 pbaoe grps were pretty customary at fins, but those seem pretty rare these days in any situation.

whenever I log in, i just start my own group as Hero.

sometimes its full focus with me. and I have developed a list of a number of casters who want to group with me. Hero is actually good to have around in pbae. it provides a lot of safety and support to the pbae, slamming before the cast, guard/intercept

don't wait to get an invite, it will never happen, just start your own and be patient in finding bard/druid

couple of things about that:

a) We currently invite everyone, if you ask for an invite, you will get one. That means two things: Every class will be invited, we do not discriminate against anyone.
Also some people might not be the nicest people, although i've mostly had very good experiences with members.

b) The people that have houses are the people that spent the most time ingame and play most efficiently.
I currently share a small house with 6 of the people i play the most with so we can mule in housevault.
I have never asked for more than the material price for any kind of armor i have crafted unless i sell it on the house.

c) Powerleveling does not work correctly.
This means high level people can't properly help lower levels. That is unfortunate but will be better on release.

d) I don't feel an obligation towards tanks or the realm because i'm level 50.
I don't enjoy raiding or leveling in suboptimal groups, and if i won't enjoy it, i won't do it.

TL;DR: Is Dye Hard perfect? No. Is Dye Hard the root of all evil? Probably not.

I've noticed this through my entire time playing here.

First of all, I feel the grouping xp issue is not an issue. I would much rather have an actual pve experience than constant PL groups everywhere. I find it sad that they feel it is worth changing but then again based on their opinion of v1.65, they want all the same mechanics, so I guess another one that completely cheapens the PvE side of the game is all right. It was there then. So basically the PvE will be destroyed by release and a month or so after there will be no PvE to speak of. Cause "reasons".

As it pertains to Tanks getting groups, this has been an issue for awhile. I would agree with the folks that suggested that you make y our own group. I've made a tank as well and this has worked well for me. Although I haven't lvl'd him that much so can't say what it's like at higher lvls. The overall opinion of the realm is as bad as original Hib was on live. So many folks only want "The most efficient xp" and won't settle for anything a bit slower. Last night we had a diamond group in df with a hero and BM and it was great and consistent xp. So not sure the issue but again not surprised.

Like the folks that want PL so bad, they want welfare 50's and of course will scoff at any group setup that doesn't get them the most efficient xp as possible. It's sad and the same attitude that made Mythic change mechanics that ruined the game, cause people have to have the fastest lvling experience cause their idiotic minds, RvR is the only game DAoC offers. /facepalm

Hib, my favorite realm, has had a ridiculous attitude on this fresh server.

Farm > all

By trying to get 'rich' the realm is gimping itself and some of the true better farming potential of, for example, DF. We may not have the easy quests that give you a starting weapon if you **don't** complete it. We may not have good, useful OTDs that help leveling.

But we certainly don't need to have twinked OJ armor tanks from 5-49.5 Farm to support a character, dont farm to support a huypothetical. All the wealth is going to be deleted anyway.

yes, blame a random beta guild for your own incompetence... but hey - you are no one who gives up easily, right? i mean like someone who rerolls the realm two times in less than a month...

There are so many ppl complaining about these issues... why don't you just organise yourselves and form groups instead of wasting time on the forums qqing?

Mids are loving these hero-less all-chanter groups. No stun that can ignore det 5, no way to peel off the healer. Basically free RPs. I know they're at least enjoying the fact that tanks are getting neglected in hib.
