So I'm considering making one of my characters an armorsmith once I am lvl 50.

I'm wondering if there are specific guides I should read for a Hibernian Armorsmith? (can't recall differences between tradeskills in different realms) I know tasks can be a big deal but is there anything I should know before I start? Any suggestions that can be made?

I know there are some issues on the tracker about armorsmith but can anyone suggest any good tips or a good guide?

I've been following Pharaoh's Crafting Templates last revised in March of 2003, from the 1.60 patch. It appears to be pretty spot on through AC 700, and very easy to follow. The guide breaks it down per 100 levels, and also mixes in the necessary secondary skills like Woodworking, Metalworking, etc to raise while you're working on your primary.

Google: "Guardians of Valor Crafting For Profit", and Pharaoh's entire article will be the top hit. Towards the bottom of the article, you'll find links to the Crafting Templates for the 4 original trade skills.

If you are going to have a 50 that can farm reasonably well, then I wouldn't task, you can make better money farming.

You will want to do the following progression:

X05-X35 Tacuil gloves
X36-X60 Tacuil boots
X60-X70 Nadurtha boots
X70-X95 Tacuil sleeves
X95-X05 Nadurtha sleeves

This is going to be the most cost efficient progression when you consider chance of losing materials vs chance of a skill gain vs loss on sell back. Here's the problem with Hybernia AC though, you get no metalworking skill gains for working reinforced armor. You will have to trinket metal to get your metalworking. If you skilled up on scale, you would have to trinket cloth working and leather working, plus it's a LOT more expensive and a pain getting the leather parts.

You can also skill up low level weapon crafting / fletching to boost metalworking.

When do I need to start worrying about metalworking? Is this something I need to work on at the beginning or start at the middle or what?

There is a really nice guide in one of the threads listed as the links for crafting. Every 100 skillpoints you max out metalworking and woodworking using trinketing and then fletching. Read through that guide. It has tons of helpful info.

I will certainly check. Just hit 800 AC last night but metalworking is still extremely low, so gonna have to grind that out soon.

You can even level using lvl 1 weaponcrafting. it will still push your metalworking up regardless as long as you're making skill gains in WC. (for cheaper mats)

One of my guildies mentioned to me to just "hinge" it. Meaning just grind on brackets and hinge's in metalworking to lvl. Would WC be worth it since I'm not a WC and could just lvl through metalworking itself or is that a waste of time in your experience?

As long as you can afford the bars it makes no difference really. Though WC will also level woodworking and leatherworking so if you want to repair doors / salvage lep staves it has a dual function.
