Am I right in assuming Ignore Pain, Avoid Pain and Purge are priorities? Im thinking about a hybrid ranger.

Don't under estimate dodger, especially if you are peirce for the evade stun reactionary

Tested out the Ranger Last night, its pretty tough without Camoufalge up, and even harder to find targets without the See All Hidden Enemies RA. I believe you'll need lots of Defensive RA's, there no way to Avoid a good stealther hitting oyu before you can react.
