|

We lost people whit this insta 30, because is no a insta 35 and no gear, so you need equip your char, exp some levels and after some run in Caledonia you need delete char because no exp off or rp off commands.
We expect more from insta 50. But ty all staff for effort |

They could have done it easily, yet instead of building a bridge they placed an island in the middle of the river and said make it work on your own .. ah and btw we will tear it down in the end. So yea .. big surprise people are not super thankful for a job well done. uwu ~ orz

You mean what you actually wanted was an instant-BG server for you to enjoy? What if that wasn't/isn't the point of the beta..? |
|
but his assessment is right.
The population is decreasing. |
|
Its decreasing.
Its going to be a roller coaster for a while. I50 will cause a slight bump in population, briefly. Live release will as well...but in the end... well ... i guess we'll see. I didnt try Beta (Uth2) for a long time. I didnt even load it until about a month ago. At that time, just like so many others.... nostalgia kicked in. The sounds.... the scenery....all came flooding back. I played this game 12-15 years ago.... played it for 7 years hardcore... then it became too much of a time sink. I played Uth v1 for 3+ years as well. But i'm not sure what will happen with Uth 2.0. The first couple of nights i logged in (US, EST) i would see 500-700 people online. Now it is closer to 200-300 on a good night. It became clear to me that i wouldnt be playing much. But thats my decision. Again... too much of a time sink. Especially 15 years later, when i have 2 kids, work more than ever and more responsibilty.... but again... my decision. It has always been made clear that this project isnt designed for us, It was built and designed because someone had a vision, and its pretty much a straight line. They want a 1.65 server. Period. Its not to promote our enjoyment. Its to recreate a game at a specific time and period regardless of how "my life" has changed. Bottom line is that i'm thankful for everyone who has invested their time in this project. I think in the end, they will get some satisfaction of completing a goal that they set out to achieve several years ago. Will it provide entertainment? For some, yes ... im sure it will. For others like me... the nostalgia will wear off pretty quickly. I'll log in intermittently just to hear the sounds, or see the sights... but the time just isnt there like it used to be. Sleep |

My exact feelings towards this server and game. I'll always have it on my computer, but to be honest I'd rather spend my 1 hour or 2 hours every other night playing H1Z1 and Rocket League, rather than grind out levels knowing ill never make max level and fully enjoy the game. Either way, I really appreciate their effort to give me the opportunity to actually play the game, it's just to bad I don't/won't have the time for this game anymore. No one else's fault but my own, I was the one who got a job and her pregnant afterall See you in Thid! |

See this is what I don't understand. Why would you not be "able" to play this game anymore only because you don't have so much time on your hands (due to family, job, real life commitments")?
DAoC in a 1.65 is perfectly playable even if you can only login a few hours a week. Why wouldn't it be? The timesink is not as big as some of you make it seem to be. It's just not. Sure, you need some time to hit max level, but it is nowhere near as much as it used to be. Simply because people know how to level these days, know their classes, know class synergies, know level spots. And who says you can't enjoy the process of leveling either? I won't be playing 24/7 either as I used to. Also due to real life commitments, it's going to be a few hours per week. Will I still play on Uthgard 2.0 ? Of course I will. Even if I can't nerd hardcore. You don't have to do that at all to have fun in this game. I'll login a few times a week, level a bit, do some BGs, will hit 50 eventually and then RvR. Why would the game be less fun if you can't play 6 hours a day? Yea, you will level slower (obviously) and yea, you won't be RR8 within a few weeks, but hell, you can still have fun. Isn't the way of leveling, ranking up RRs fun? At least that's what is fun for me. The process getting there. Also some thoughts on less players playing the beta right now: Of course the hype was huge, server has been down for 2+ years obviously. People wanted to try, log in, play and test. Thing is, a lot of people haven't even logged in during the beta (like me and a lot of friends and guildies I know), because they know there's going to be a charwipe and they want to play the "live" server, where no wipes are going to happen anymore. Add to that the number of people who have given the beta a try but also didn't want to commit too much because of the upcoming wipe, you have a huge number of people who are not playing the beta right now but will definitely play the "live" server. I am not worried about population numbers at all once the server relaunches officially. 1,4k during beta primetime first few weeks? Gonna be 2k+ at launch, easily. Of course that is going to decline over time, but that's natural. I think that there are still going to be a lot of people playing after 1-2 years aswell, it's not going to be as drastic a decline as it's been in the beta. Not even close. |

um..cause daoc is not a log in and get into action in 10 minutes type of game and everyone knows that. if you want to be competitive and not be a meat hanging on a stick you need good setup group, get template and all that requires time. to get a decent setup group in daoc takes 30 min or more at least. how much time do you have left to play when you got kid crying behind you?
this is not longer teenager demographics game, and somehow most of you are blind to see it. there are reasons daoc live is easy mode now and many other games. its all based on statistics. if you want to have a server where population does not die off - you adhere to majority and you compromise to get current age/job/financial situation into consideration - that's smart tactic - that's why live server still a'live". if you are closed minded and want to give ratios of 1 cheese slice per family because that's how our grandparents lived - you bound to fail in long run because you'll get your fanatics which is a limited number and then the only direction is down. |
|
I disagree
I think wow is dying because it is catered too much to casuals. I believe an MMO is only successful for its community. And how do you raise community? add elements of "Hardcore" to it. |

those above are ALL good point of view.. but maybe, it could be nice to find a waypoint in the middle.. or even closer to the hardcore side (says the nerd gamer inside me).. but 2 child - and the wife that they bring with them - are, often, grape con that you can't kite or cc for too much time ..

****** kids and their BAF.... |

well.. whatever.. lol |

I agree with a lot of this.
I love this game-I always have...18+years into it in some form or another. I want to thank everyone who works to make this server what it is. I've been down the grind path a few times and I know what kind of time sink it is....which is why I don't want to do it twice. Once now(for beta-which will vanish) and again when the server goes live. I want to play and level to 50 here however I'm afraid if I put too much time into it now I will be spent later on. If that makes any sense... |
