this is not longer teenager demographics game, and somehow most of you are blind to see it.

there are reasons daoc live is easy mode now and many other games. its all based on statistics. if you want to have a server where population does not die off - you adhere to majority and you compromise to get current age/job/financial situation into consideration - that's smart tactic - that's why live server still a'live". if you are closed minded and want to give ratios of 1 cheese slice per family because that's how our grandparents lived - you bound to fail in long run because you'll get your fanatics which is a limited number and then the only direction is down.

hm, so you are not playing MMO's at all then ... show me how you setup a raiding group or arena group in WoW in 10min ... its the same effort in most halfway competetive MMO's for endgame activities
live DAoC only consists of hardcore RvR players sprinkled with some PvE raiders ... and thats it, no community to speak of and no casuals or new players
while all this 'QoL' nonsense mostly supports hardcore DAoC veterans playstiles it makes things just more confusing and daunting for casuals and new players

cheers

Did you really just try to say quality of life changes make the game confusing to casuals and new players? Wtf? Are you retarded?

How is having a map more confusing? How is having endo/mez show up on group window more confusing? How is having /release city confusing? How is having 10 uses on a potion confusing? How is having regen rates a little faster confusing? How is have XP a tad bit faster confusing?

These are changes which would tangibly make the game less of a pain in the a** for people who can't game 24/7 anymore like in 2001 when DAoC came out. Some people have grown up and have lives.

- map - helpful but will be in anyway
- group window - dunno, I found it helpful, no biggie though, more info might be more confusing
- release city - extremely confusing ... why would you want to realease somewhere you did not bind? thats just a scheme to get around faster ... shortly after they will be asking for no xp penalty for dying so they can just get around faster
- 10 uses on a potion - not so confusing initially, but bad for the game, makes certain classes/specs less attractive ... and confusing for a new player who does not understand why her rejuv/enhance cleric is not grouped
- regen rates a little faster - not confusing, but the less you have to work for a reward the less incentive you have longterm, so thats bad for longterm server population which everybody is so concerned about

all that has nothing to do with how much time you have to invest in the game becasue you are 'grown up', at any rate less time to invest means you just level slower ... somebody who can spent 24/7 in a fast/easy to level game will still outperform you with 2 hours to spent per day

still don't know how you can be so upset about something which was clearly stated from the start, 1.65 is the target ... and yes, some things are not 1.65 like for various reasons, but thats up to staff to decide ... if you think DAoC 1.65 'a pain in the a** for people' I don't know why you want to play here

cheers

Njor, stop digging yourself a hole that makes you look silly.
As a side note, a quick fix for the potions making other classes less useful would be to only allow 1 charge buff potions. Would make no odds if instant power/endu or regens had more charges.

My mind’s made up, don’t confuse me with facts.
You mustn't assume that your personal situation is a reflection of every other person that has logged in to Uthgard.

Sadly there was no BG for parents with less time to sink in a game :-)

I won´t have the time either I had back in the days, because of the same reason.
But hey, who cares ?
I am going to play when I have time to do so.
In the end it comes down to play with your old buddies and have fun.
Of course you won´t be anywhere near competitive as you where in the old days... but as long there is enough beer and old friends to enjoy playing with, I couldn´t care less.

Midgard players don´t just simply play Daoc - we play Daoc to riun the game for Alb and Hib

RvR is what happens while you are here complaining

Thats why pay to win is the new standard in gaming now..... cash shops.

Dont have a life like me, play all day.

Have a life...but want to stay on par with others....buy $20 of game cash every week.

This servers not for casuals....unless they conform.

If you guys dont like it roll out....dont stick around rabble rousing to get server changes.

Give me no map, 0 quality gear and a rusty sword and ill make it happen.

Some play DAoC.......

Some play DAoC well........

Very easy to tell the difference.

I left live because the joke it is.....i came to Uthgard for the server its going to be.

Any update on when next step (i50) will be coming GM's?
In the opening message it tells "1-2 months (hopefully 1 month)" and in 1.5 week 1 month has passed.
Very exciting and curious for the next steps, keep up the great work!

A quick update would be greatly appreciated indeed, just to know if we're running late or ahead of schedule. Maybe some IRC dwellers could share their insight?

Dear Uthgard Staff,

Just wanted to take a moment to write you all a quick note. Needless to say every person is thankful for you dedication, diligence, and devotion to the game. We all love this game and I know it pains me to see the server with such low numbers. The fact of the matter is - this is an easily remedied problem.

If Steve Jobs would have waited for the perfect iPhone the consumer would still be waiting or have moved on to greener pastures. Like the iPhone, Uthgard ought to realize that there will never be a perfect release. People want to play the game, but knowing that their accomplishments will be wiped, or they will be rolled by someone that has the ability to play more, discourages people. This is the cry to release the game. Do your instant 50 beta but provided players with the tools they desire and require to complete the job. The bottom line is that this is a game and we all just want to have some fun, shouldn't that be the ultimate goal?

Enough QQ and <3 to <3.

Thank you again for Uthgard - one of the loves of my life!

Sincerely,

MD

Hard to satisfy everyone, anytime without having a (mind)map ...
And stop comparing beta with real launch. I spent maybe 6hours in open beta yet and i didnt even meet 20% of people i remember playing on uth1 or other shards. There are ALOT people not playing and waiting for real launch.
This is a real beta, not a pseudobeta of some 2016 released EAgame to bait people to pay overpriced special upgrades to play 2 days befor the majority^^

You had better hope you are right, and that this beta is some special snowflake that says absolutely zero about the upcoming trending on the playerbase come live. Because if you aren't those people will leave, and leave for GOOD. And if live drops to damn near zero population, there's not going to be a quick fix to get those people's interest back.

if this isnt evidence enough to prove how bad explicit coherence to a certain patch is, i dont know what is. the #1 goal should be retainment and favorable appeal to the masses. if they do not make the necessary changes in order to retain the majority population then the beta dilemma will be a view into the future of the real release.

you have 1 shot to get it right. beta revealed you got it wrong. beta was key in finding bugs and various other things, but it also showed the populations sentiment on what they thought of the server over all. it is clear they did not agree with where the server is headed. 1200+ people drops to 150 over 1 month.

please make the necessary adjustments in order to appeal to the masses. we all know the server will run flawlessly with minimal broken mechanics, bugs, and lag. but if you do not make a welcoming, fun, non-timesink environment the population will disappear just as it did in beta.
Koochi made the beta quit.
