I would cheer for 250. There are lest than 100 on when I play in the evenings in North America these days.

i30 and only a couple people in the BG...maybe less than a handful in DF, maybe one exp group going.

Things are winding down. It's about time to consider the next phase of beta.

Yes we need i50 ASAP. And it has to be with viable RvR gear and some RR. PvE will always be popular here, so dont worry that if you gear people up they will only run Emain.

I think great solution would be - that we starter gear has max stats but 0 resists. or something like that. So its viable, but still full template beats it.

Every single post I make gets deleted by the devs now. However, is it possible that if almost nobody is playing this is a reflection of a trend?

Perhaps the devs might consider instead of just deleting my posts listening before it is too late? I'm fine either way but I still wouldn't object to playing on a viable server.

Players can greatly contribute to a server if you let them.

Uthgard, still the best server. Thanks, Devs.

why player numbers are declining:

Players know everything they do will be wiped soonish, its BETA, clearly announced everytime you log in (in case you missed the website completely). It is known. Your chars and everything they own will be wiped, gone.
That is basically the opposite of why you usually choose to play a MMO ... persistence, development over time etc...

Now at the start of BETA was a lot of excitement which pushed the number of players into (unexpected?) high numbers.
The excitement though was not about the testing bit so much as just being able to 'testdrive' some of your favourite classes, goof around with specs and in general have fun in a fresh environment. That initial excitement included for some the push to 50 to see how RvR pans out, what to expect from this patchlevel and also have some fun in RvR. All that accounts for the majority of players starting off in the BETA.
After some time this initial excitement faded obviously, players tried what the wanted to try, had their quick fix of DAoC and player numbers slowly went down, understandably.
When i30 hit there was a rise in player numbers because many who did not want to put in the time to level to 30 (after the initial excitement phase) could now try out stuff on level 30's with some (kind of) insta RvR in Caledonia. Again after that inital i30 phase numbers dropped because the reality is still your chars and everything they own will be wiped.

There is a small number of serious testers, who when they log in spend their time focussing on aspects of DAoC they want to test and report an issue if necessary. These players are by far in the minority, but are the ones pushing most of the bugs onto the issue tracker.

So, to all those who spout their "the server is doomed because x feature is/is not available'', "player numbers are dropping, we all gonna die" I can only say:

IT IS BETA YOU FOOLS, SHUT IT AND DO SOME TESTING

cheers

I´m curious what that trend would be?

Midgard players don´t just simply play Daoc - we play Daoc to riun the game for Alb and Hib

RvR is what happens while you are here complaining

This is your opinion why the server population has crashed but you have no idea why they left any more than we do. But while you guys sweep everything up under the rug of "this is beta, no one wants to invest in beta", all the other legit gripes people had fall on deaf ears.

Announcing i50 to come one month after i30 was an incredibly horrible decision, it effectively killed any drive people had to getting to 50 since they just had to wait a month and get it for free. That has had a bigger detriment on the server pop than anything you listed.

THIS.

Also, having some proper gear for testing would've been smart, investing in leg. armorcrafter etc. while they will be deleted in a short time is painful. :grumble:

I for my part wait for i50 for a quick checkout, then leave again till live is back up. :)

I used beta for testing and tried to report some stuff (very annoying reporting process). Hoping for the best. :bored:

What I am curious of is the server pop when i50 has been out for a week or 3.

Beta or not, if the pop crashes hard after the novelty wears, Im going to be verrrrrrry pessimistic about lives ability to sustain a good pop 3+ months in.

Don't underestimate the impact of knowing anything you accomplish will be deleted soon (tm).

Full confidence the server population returns to a healthy sustainable level upon release of live. Furthermore, imo, the lack of interest in the beta has a lot to do with the population's belief that the server is already very playable. I agree that i50 should still be the necessary next step to test rvr and dr's ect. but still this period ought to be brief. Used only to seek out major flaws. Again, I applaud the devs for their patience and dedication and also the dedicated group (mentioned in an earlier post) that did the actual beta testing and aided to make the experience as authentic as possible.

On a side note - none of the other bs in this game matters. Fact is that RVR in this game is amazing and anyone that has experienced a good 8v8, BG, or RVR battle will do what it takes to lvl and gear their toon because they understand that this is some of the most fun you will have on a video game, period. With or without maps/teleporters/horses/whatever else it may be.

You had me at Old Emain.

You just joined this forum not to long ago, And you already have over 100 posts, but has one of those posts been anything worth posting?

What are you? oO

Easy there young tyke.. just because his account is younger and has more posts there is no need to attack him.

I just spent 10 mins reading through Galandriel3's user posts. Take 5 and do the same.

"young tyke" pretty sure I'm old enough to be your father btw.

on a serious note, +1 to m-dtaro. Players will flock to this server no matter what, when the time comes. BUT we should not rush this. We have waited what, 3 years? what's another 3 months. If just one mob is still bugged after launch and some level 15 is farming i50 items and salvaging them or vendor trashing them on day 1 or 2, its going to hurt. That type of problem will have more of an impact on player base than anything.
