Debating on Mana chanter vs Light eld but never played either.

What are the roles of each? How do they play? Which one is more needed?

This is my first time on Uthgard, so maybe some of the other veterans can chime in and correct me where I'm wrong. This is going to be no bullshit DAoC leveling. Mana chanter is good time leveling and can also have decent viablity in a bomb group. If you went eld, I would recommend leveling as mana eld since bomb pve and rvr groups are going to be a thing. Both are going to get you groups if you go mana, in the end disease and nearsight is nothing to turn your nose at, I think we'll see a few months after lauch which becomes the fotm but I see main spec as mana and minor in light as an eld. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Both mana chanters and light elds are solid for rvr, chanter is a little easier since you are mostly just debuff nuking. Elds have alot more utility so its tougher to play them to the max.

3 common specs for eld are 46 light 28 mana, 40 light 36 mana, and 24 light, 48 mana.

If you are often in tank groups as the only caster 46 light is the best imo, you just play far back saddle the enemy support/casters with grape ns, disease/debuff some tanks and help finish targets off with your spec nuke.

If you run in multi-caster debuff groups the other 2 specs are more feasible since you'll probably use your baseline heat nuke more and can do w/o the spec cold nuke.

With the current Manareg, lack of All Focus Gems i strongly advise to NOT run a chanter.
I would even consider Eld borderline unplayable as it is now, but at least eld doesn´t burn through his Manapool in less than 20 Seconds.
Pom pot + serenity 4 is a must have here, thats -20 realmpoints just to be able to play a caster. That is not worth it.

Is it really that bad? Has anyone tested how many nukes a chanter can cast before going oop? Wouldn't sorcs/cabs/others who use baseline nuke have the same problems? I've heard of some issues with power pool for casters but I didn't think it was so extreme.

Just level a Caster to lvl5 without using the instant 50. You´ll figure it out...
This has been the worst Daoc experience in my life so far.

Mana really is a huge deal atm saldy its hard to prove that mana cost/reg was that bad on live. Although with raging power/mcl 2 its playable in rvr if you use pom/mana pots

We tried running chanter group and power was a massive, massive issue for us. So much so that we considered running 2 chanters to split the load. That was even with mcl2 RP and pots etc etc.
My mind’s made up, don’t confuse me with facts.

Between mana and mob density, I wonder if Hib will even matter this time around.

You could try to watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2W4VpZQ19s for example, look at the enchanter fights and count the nukes, and see if you get significantly different results when reproducing

Tried to compare this with uth:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58UYvIm-Pgc&t=37s
Vid is from 1.62ish
Guy doesnt start with 100% (sucks)... its around 90%. Because of his ra we know he at least has aug acuity3, too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMvS7n5 ... e=youtu.be

Debuff, hastedebuff, nuke, nuke, debuff, nuke, nuke, nuke = about at 50% power ( stop at 9:55)

Now i did the same on uth with capped int + aug acu3 ,but unbuffed ^^ And i had to switch focus-staff between debuff(mana) and nukes (light) :hammer:
https://youtu.be/tMvS7n5QNVg

Ended up 53%
so i dunno:P

Do dolls count as "in combat" or are you getting out of combat power ticks?
