Sorry if topic has been brought up before, but i didnt see on search.

So im looking to play a deticated light tank and was debating between a savage and a berserker. Unfortunately, my 8 yrs of daoc experience was mostly after the 1.6 patch level, so not sure which one was stronger at this phase.

For comparison sake, lets assume RR5 and fully buffed and stat capped. Running in 8v8.

Also, spec is tenative to viable builds at this patch lvl, but would expect hammer/LA for serk and h2h for savage.

Thank you for your input guys.

at best you have both classes in group but if you have to decide for one of them i prefer zerker because savages can't skill prevent flight. so if your group have 3offtanks, 2zerker and 1savage would be the best option imo.

Ahh, i gotcha. So as for damage, savage and serker are pretty comparable as to that area of the group?

this. you want to have both, the high zerk dps + the svg quadhit bursts.

They both have their pros and cons but 99% of the people out there would be better off making a zerker.

Access to Hammer styles and PF make it easier to be effective with.

Most groups, especially EU groups will favor a zerker over a savage even if they already have a zerker in the group.

At a high level of 8vs8 a savage's tools can be leveraged more, which can start to tip the scale.

Being harder to peel makes your push more effective and the offensive stun is much more of a factor when you can coordinate when to use it, rather than just some noob who spams clans call all day and gives immunity.

Savage is great. especially this patchlevel with dualist reflexes. Zerk are great overall. doublefrost always hurt. but if savage gets their chains off its goodbye.

I prefer axe on zerker for slowest speeds myself. but its a matter of taste imho

I got 1 point..

No Zerker will use DF in RvR, with sprint and style, they will go OOE within 4 hits... Most grps will have end4, and when u have a train grp, u have an aug healer for celerity, you can do the math on how fast DF will consume your endo.. So zerkers will prolly mainly use backsnare, and hammer taunt for low fatigue...

IMO Savage - Zerker, I wouldn't pick one over the other, zerkers are great in Vendo for train, but a backstun and then sidestyle with quad hits, will put a zerkers dmg to sleep any day :)

Savage is higher damage over time if you were to compare them hitting the same target continuously. Its very easy to test this right now in game. Just create a 50 of both. Although Im not sure if youll be able to find 16.5 dps weapons on housing merchants anymore.... so maybe you won't be able to test it anymore.

But I did a few months ago when free R5 and 50s were first added. Savage did more damage over time consistently, while the zerk can control when their burst is used. Its up to you really. But the zerker is easier to play in essence than a savage.

gues you could be right. i still prefer having both classes (reliable haste, stun, harder to peel, better overextend survivability etc) but zerker over savage if you have to decide for one of them tho.
