Since we are offering a working lfg tool (viewtopic.php?f=47&t=36609),
which is basicly the same as an lfg channel but without the need to repost over and over again.

For players looking for a group:
1) Set LFG
2) Select the objective you are looking for (EXP, RvR, Epic, ...)
3) Select the duration you will be available (N/A, 1 Hour, 2 Hours, ...)
4) Automatically "Find" a list of all solo players or even groups looking for members within the same conditions (objective/duration/classes).
5) Check 4) as long as you are lfg (same as reposting to a lfg channel over and over)

For groups looking for members:
1) As leader set your group LFM (LFG)
2) Select the objective you are looking for (EXP, RvR, Epic, ...)
3) Select the duration you think the group will be available (N/A, 1 Hour, 2 Hours, ...)
4) Automatically "Find" a list of all solo players within the same conditions (objective/duration/classes).
5) Check 4) as long as you are looking for members.

An advantage using the tool is, that you will be listed as soon as someone opens the lfg results ("Find" button in the UI).
Newly logged in players or formed groups will not have to wait for a matching repost in said lfg channel nor do they have to constantly read the chat if they don't want to miss something interesting.

Since you mention possible spam in the alliance chat channel, I don't think a realm wide or even city wide lfg channel would serve its purpose since players would simply use it as a realm and trade chat.

Everything else you wrote sounds great, but whats so wrong with having a realm chat?

Those public chats (broad/lfg/trade) need to be moderated because people use it wrongly and many use them to vent their frustrations making the others ignore those chats making them totally unuseful. Making a public chat to give a tool to reach everybody is a bad idea with the mentality of many people nowadays.

This forum is used for people to vent their frustrations and post lots of crap that needs to be moderated, but its still useful and enjoyable. Why not just let people block the jerks and report them if it's especially egregious. Don't let a few bad apples spoil what would be a useful tool for communicating and organizing thorughout the realm.

I started hating those chats when many days had to add several ppl in the ignore list, at the end is faster to close the chat. I was so happy when I knew that chats were not here in Uth 2, sry

Remember, with global chats, you can turn the channel off instead of issuing multiple /ignores which could later turn out to be a bad idea.

Also, you can search for group members without being leader. Being in a group for multiple hours is painful and often the leader is afk or just not totally with it.

The lfg tool sucks. It's badly designed and not helpful. Too many options and too much p*ssing around.

Great feedback, just perfect. I finally have found my drawer I'm going to put you into.

I think that modern day's people can operate a LFG tool that has more than three buttons. I even think that it's pretty neat compared to other games, offering duration, objective and specific class options.

But yeah, I assume that you're a more simple man, using a flip phone instead of an, let's say, iPhone. Oh wait ...

Maybe you misunderstood me. But if it was so wonderfully designed, why did nobody use it when we had roughly 1200 people logged in? I'll tell you why - The lfg tool sucks. It's badly designed and not helpful. Too many options and too much p*ssing around.

One major flaw with this model is you can't predict people leaving/comming, there is alot of small 'que' mechanics i.e our healer will leave in 25 minutes, is anyone LFG by then etc etc...

Also you can't advertise your toon that is lfg unless you're on that toon. Some people are going to have multiple alts they're working on, for example I'd rather be able to say 26/shaman 34/warrior, or 16/sb lfg while i solo on my bd. Instead with the current system i have to pick one, flag myself as lfg, and then twiddle my thumbs. No love for alts or versatility.

I'm sure whoever designed the lfg tab put a good amount of work into it and you rather see that be rewarded, but you really should have a realm wide lfg channel. The people who hate the channel can easily turn it off if they're not incompetent (takes 5s), but the people who want the channel and would use it have no other options worth considering.

If the lfg tool was/is so good, why was it replaced later on in daoc history?

i can tell you, because I remember these days,- the tool was not succesful because it lacked options and communication and wasn ´t used by community, so it got removed and replaced by a better working chat system and nobody was missing it.
But discussions like that are useless as staff is strict holding their 1.65 line no matter what, even if several things wasn ´t working as intended and got changed on live servers later on,- but custom is the devil here.

At topic,- it would be good if Rare , Drachangarde and other leading guilds would work together in some cases like relic raids for example. Even if the rvr motivation/playstyles might differ,- it would be good for realm and community in my opinion.
