Hey all so I made a similar post over on the hero forums. My brother is interested in playing a valewalker so thought I would make another post here talking about VWs before the big day on friday! Lets talk VW!
What spec would you guys recommend leveling up? I assume you want to keep scythe at level and put the rest in arb? Ive never played VW before so I dont know the best route for this. What spec would you guys recommend for solo/small man/8man? I think the main debate for VWs is do you go 44 scythe or 50 scythe? Again, im not familiar with the class so Im not sure if there is a cookie cutter spec for them. What RA path would you recommend taking for solo/small man/8man? Without det, what RA progression is best do you feel? What do you feel is the best race? It doesnt seem to me that there is a go to race for VWs. Firbolg seems good for best scythe damage, and it seems to me that its hard to determine whether celt or sylvan will be better than one another. What do you guys think? Thats all I have for now, hope to hear from others soon! |

You dont *need* more than 34 arb for the last absorb. You want 50 scythe for the extra weaponskill so you miss less in rvr.
I like: 50 scy 38 arb 20 parry I'm a fan of Sylvan. Most say Celt. RA's is likely purge, IP, dodger. |

+1 with the spec above
About the xp : I wld suggest to get asap the best abs buff (34 arb) then go full scythe About races : Firbolg = pure melee Sylvan = hybrid melee caster Celt = hybrid melee caster less effective with more défense About RAs : SCM / Purge / Mopain / Wild power Tips : Don't cast your self abla buff if you'r SC with full abla buff |

This is great info guys thank you. What is SCM? Sorry I dont recognize that one

At levels 5 to 6 its a bit conflicting.
You should put all points into arb first, because at 5 you get your first abs-selfbuff and you really need it in order to melee/tank something :p But that means you have no styles until lvl 6 and no taunt until you dinged lvl8. But after that its all fine Formerly known as

Can anyone explain how abs buffs actually work? |
|
It's like your cloth armour is plate armour with the lvl34 buff. |
|
With less AF so with more dmg received but since you wear cloth and are neutral to every dmg it's not bad at all
|
|
Damage reduction (with both buffs) is actually closer to scale / mail / chain than plate. Something to do with how the absorb from the buff isn't used in the same way as the absorb from armor if I remember correctly.
But neutral damage is indeed a big advantage. |
