Seeing 20k accounts created, i sense there might be at problem with room on the server ?

You're not going to see 20k players trying to connect to the server, lol. Oh how we all wish there were that many people still interested in this game. =)

Not sure what you're asking or saying. All i can say is WoW had about 12 millions players in its prime, and daoc had 250 thousand players in its peak. Impossible to compair these games.
Maybe the WoW freeshard has 50 people working on it. Again because the much bigger pool of people interested.

First post! I'm so excited for Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is this funded??? Is it purely donations? This old-school DAOC lover would love to contribute to the cause. Thank you all so much for making this happen!!

Spells 24 welcome, we all feel the same way very excited, as of right now they're not accepting any donations but hopefully that will change so we can help him out and repay them for the hard work

Yes, I am sure we are all excited about getting in right away. I know I've made room in my schedule for the next Month or so of straight gaming. Neckbeard expected.

Game architecture and current funding would undoubtedly be the most common things keeping the server from moving upwards of 10k. Not to mention the fact that you'll never see anywhere near 10k logged into the servers here.

I think you all are misunderstanding him. He's talking about the server's load capacity, comparing it to private WoW servers which apparently handle many more players than 1,500. The server hosting Uthgard's capacity... Not server population or gameplay.

I wanted to bring this to the latest post - an excellent question and I'm not sure of the answer. Could somebody point us in the right direction?

It would be great if we could set up standing orders to pay on a subscription basis. I'll cancel my multiple accounts on live and donate the difference if the server lives up to expectations.

Secondly, I understand you're looking to implement maps - will this be done prior to launch?

Thanks

We're not misunderstanding him. The newest Nos-WOW revival server (Elysium?) is sporting a 10k pop atm, iirc. It's a completely different game architecture and other funding sources. Thus, it's comparing apples to oranges.

It's a moot point asking for a 10k pop cap when the server cap they are placing here (1500 realm + 500 non-realm logins) is about what the peak should be. We damn sure won't be seeing 10k people trying to login, so I don't see the reason why there's a need for the comparison at all.

Trishin already said server cap can be adjusted on the fly in seconds, so there's no reason to be concerned whatsoever.

There are no donations for this server.. The cost of running this server is very low (I spoke with a GM about this, cuz I wanted to donate my self).. So they dont accept donations :)
