Annoying isn't it? I really like Thanes n Champs.

Too much like hard work to get one ready just to reach 50 and be told "No groups for you"

It isn't really that they suck. It is more that people that play them tend to not understand mechanics and break CC all the time even when you tell them not to use certain things. Also no DET. So people tend to not like having them.

But I mean cmon you ain't livin the Midgard experience until you have a thane break that beautiful mezz! Can't resist dropping them hammers!

Most is already said in the topic. Thane is great in zergs and keep/relic fights when fronts are build or a conflict/battle is static, then you can toss thors hammers and summon a beautiful thunderstorm on your foes.

Thane is also great in solo pve and solo PvP, and it ´s ok in PvE raids (warrior is the better shieldtank when tanking bossmobs, but thane is good too). It ´s not a bad char, it ´s just depending on situation and what you want to do with it.

When you want to be picked in 8vs8 rvr groups, you should better roll another char, or you have to be ok when you don ´t get a grp invite or some ppl even see you as the reason they lost fights.
Thane lags grp utility and is a CC victim that can easy be taken out of a fight. As a def tank you look like a disabled warrior as offtank you never reach savage/bersi damage and having trouble with CC.

I played a champ on Uth1, the situation with thane is very similar and got worse with this 1.65 server setup and old RAs, but it´ s still a cool and stylish char that can be fun.

I dont know why its always the thane that break mezz, and not the shaman, runemaster, etc.
Thane was my first toon in DAOC, and you have to play it to undersand : Mjolnyr is so facinating that its the main raison for rolling this class.
Those lights, blues hammers, the sond, the pride of a nation, you cant say to a thane to forget it, its something they cant control.
Thane is the nicest classe to play, so spec sheild to be the puller-tank in pve.

High RR Warriors are (almost) immune to CC, Thanes are not.
Case closed, unfortunately, its 1.65 baby.

I just joined up again and rolled a Skald but after seeing 150+ running around I switched up and made a Thane. I have always wanted one from way back, had a real low level one on Mordred but I'm going to stick it out. Is there a Thane support group where we can gather in a safe space when we get bullied out of groups?
