I know they Are gimp and not wanted whatsoever in groups but are they actually THAT bad this patch?

Self buffs in a world with no buff bots, heals, insta mezz, songs, and DD just seams like too much utility to be THAT horrible. Pick your fights, runaway if needed, insta mezz and heal or run. Just seams like too much going for it to bad useless if played right.

Any advice would be welcomed!

It's feasible imo if you play well. But you'll probably be confined to soloing more than anything as groups will prefer a group specced bard.

I don't mind soloing at all. I know that they hit like a wet noodle but with endo/speed song you can kite pure melee classes and run away from just about anyone. Group runs at you? Aoe mezz and run. Losing a fight? Insta mez and heal up or run.

I just don't get all the hate towards them. I know people expect the pure support bard spec for groups but for solo/small man are battle bards really that bad?

They are pretty bad, honestly you are probably better off going 43 nurt, 47 music, and just kiting around with endo using your shouts to deal dmg... you weapons are laughable when you swing them.

What is the above guys spec though? He doesn't post it in the videos. I see he has a red dex/qui buff which means he must be using the Pookha cloak at least. Hes got 21 blades because he has the off block stun, a yellow con DD I think, and a red AE mez, so he must be.. what. 10 rejuv, 43 nurt, 43 music, 21 blades?

Mine is 43 Nurture, 44 Music, 21 Blades, 10 Regrowth. I could use more points in Blades, but did not want to sacrifice the speed or DD.

So far it's not bad, I'm having a lot of fun running solo, but keep in mind that there is not much to do against a Minstrel with a healing pet (since nor the pet nor the minstrel can be mezzed and amnesia does not interrupt pets, and confuse does not work so far: go upvote #2586) or any pure melee not shy on using Purge immediately.
