Heya. I am waiting on my realm timer to be up so I can start playing on Alb. Got 50 on Mid but decided to switch with some friends. I am hoping for some info before I start if anyone would be kind enough to share. I am planning on going Sorc, probably 28 body 46 mind. How desired is this spec for PVE leveling groups? I am a bit worried about my ability to level on Alb with the amount of soloers I am expecting.

Also - I know this is a group RVR spec, but is the baseline lifetap of 28+11 decent enough damage to do any semblance of soloing in RVR, or at least be fine in zerg RVR?

One last thing, are groups widely available? I play in Asian time zone.

Thanks :)

Hello and welcome. I won't get in to the specifics on your spec because I don't know enough to be helpful there, and someone else will probably do a much better job helping, but I can speak to some of the more general points. Sorcs in general are very desired in groups. Basically every group needs one, however it is a popular class so you will need to be good to get re-invited to groups because there is plenty of competition. You will frequently be the puller for your group and almost always the main source of CC, which makes it a very active pve class.

Your mileage may vary, but I rarely have trouble finding a group and some of my guildmates playing Sorcs have had little trouble getting groups. There are plenty of solo necros and cabbies but it is no where near as prevalent as some on this forum would have you believe. Aside from specific camps in Lyon it has never been an issue for me. Welcome!

there are alot of sorc lvling and not alot of grps, so aslong as you dont think this is mid style grping you should be fine.
you play time might hurt you or be a blessing iam not 100% sure.

but overall sorcs are good in pve/pvp sadly alb is 80% necro/cabs that is soloing so you might find it alot harder to get grps then on mid.

I'm currently 31 on my sorc. It's kind of hit or miss on most days. You always want to try and get groups for leveling because it's so much faster, solo'ing mind is extremely slow. Luckily all groups want at least one sorc so their cleric has mana regen and the aoe mezz CC is nice for groups whose tanks are less experienced at taunting all the mobs.

Don't worry, the 46 mind / rest body is one of the most viable specs. ;)

Groups (either PvE or RvR) will love you for pom / CC / pet.
Most groups / people underestimate the relevance of CC for PvE, to increase the pulls efficiency gaining groupbonus + CC are essential.

I don't know the population at Asian primetime. :D While Sorc is vaible in quite every situation (Solo, small man, group).

A good pet can easily compensate missing body damage (dd pets, buff/heal pets, etc.), damage isn't your main job anyway. :D
Right here you can find several pet lists: viewtopic.php?f=110&t=39034

Regarding 28+11 body and its damage, The Mind-Sorcs job in general is NOT to do damage, you can do some damage, but Prio is on CC (both RvR and PvE). If you get a good Body-Debuff Caba in your group (mostly RvR), you CAN (variance) hit like a truck. ;)

RvR:
The typical Albion group setups contain 1 Mind-Sorc, main job = CC / demezz.
There also are some specialized groups with 1 Mind-Sorc, 1 Body-Sorc, 2 Cabas (1x Matter/body, 1x Spirit/Body, or Tri-Spec).
These are rare, but if you want to do damage, search one of those setups and become the Body-Sorc. :D

80%? :D 1/3 right now (thats 33%), while Sorcs can easily group up with Cabas or Deathservant necros :D
Caba + Cleric + Sorc = amazing XP if done right. ;)

Greetings
