Are Light Elds still wanted in RvR these days?

I realize some neckbeards are likely to give me the business for making this statement... but there was a time when many argued that Light Elds were the best 8man caster in the game because of their incredible utility + dmg.

Do people still recognize them for this? Are well played Light Elds wanted in RvR PUGs/8mans on Uth 2.0?

Theoretically yes. Every group should be running with a light eld or equivalent. Meaning that some setups may incorporate 2 split spec elds for example. The utility - no only the damage - that a light eld brings to a group is unquestionably important.
My mind’s made up, don’t confuse me with facts.

Still wanted and not only for the damage. Nearsight, s/c debuff, disease, dex debuffs, str debuffs. Tons of utility.

How heavily are Str and Dex debuffs used in RvR? Some classes (like Light Elds) already have 10 things to do at once... are these even used? It seems like they'd be kinda low on your priority list if things to do.

You 4 real m8? Yes, theres stuff to do, thats why we are important in grps. But few insta push buttons per fight is not an issue, and should be used. Less the HP, faster target drops. Debuffed troll, prenuke disease and insta con debuff, and hes down in 3 hits.

Yes, Nearsight and disease is very strong, which is why they are also run in tankgroups, for pure cast damage rather take an ench for debuff and menta for nukepowah!

I understand Con & Str/Con debuffs - definitely agree with you on that. But I was asking about the "base" Dex and Str only debuffs. Again, I agree they should be used whenever you can (maybe like when you're on the move while repositioning I'm a fight), but aren't they rather far down your to-do list?

From my limited experience I've gathered that spell priority goes like this: nearsight > disease > debuffs > nukes. You should be able to get all those spells off quickly in a fight, nearsight their casters on inc and disease/debuff tanks as they close in. Getting the dex debuffs off on casters is nice too if possible. A light eld seems to fit any 8 man cause of their utility (aoe mezz in a pinch too) and raw damage. Remember the debuffs are instant so you can lay em down while casting other spells. And of course assist your chanter for nuking targets :)
