its always demand and supply. Scing takes a lot of time, when its Oc, because you need every gem 99%

i toss 400-450g (99er or mp item) and for friends and guild 350g (doesnt matter if 99 or mp)

when i do 6-8 items i need around 1,5-2 hours depends on my luck for 99er, with material cost around 1p too so i think my prices are fair. When anyone dont want, he can search for another scer :P

Non oc friends i take material cost + tip
non oc stranger i take 3x material cost OR 100g/item (whatever is cheaper for the customer) because even non oc depends on the gems too for material cost on first try

This seems to be the norm for non guild crafters.

I'd say material cost for 8 pieces leans more towards 1,5p. But it all depends on the gems and retries.

yes true.. its always luck and ofc which gems are used. I just wanted to point out, that its not 400g material cost and we toss huge amount of profit^^

I charge 100g/item +50g/overcharge point, rounded down to integer. That's 350g for a +5.5 oc.

Material cost is not that high: it can go between 50 and 180/item depending on the kind of gems and the amount of retries.

A very important factor is that sc'ing is very labour-intensive. A bit of time to check the client report is valid, then minimum 15 min per piece for a +5.5oc. Sometimes more if I try to get a mp gem so that I'm sure I don't blow up an expensive 99% chainmail chest

Staves are a different beast due to focus 50 gems (999 evocation skill, 140 sec timer) that are hard to make 99%. Took me an hour yesterday to make gems for a staff with two focuses.

Consider also the initial investment to get legendary.
Besides, the amount of money in circulation is different on every realm. I wouldn't be surprised to see alb sc'er charge more.

On Alb I have seen prices vary (this is prices paid not quoted) range from 300-750g OC and 750g-1.5p for OC Staves. Some crafters include + mats but they are d*cks! Charge one price and roll. If WC'ers can do MPs for flat costs we can do OC jobs for flat costs. If you have a guildie/alliance m8/friend of a friend who will do it for 'cheap/er' then FANTASTIC! Go with them. They will be booked or burned out and us normal SC'ers can do literally anything else with our time. That time commitment is stupid to get to Legendary so that is most the cost. And time to craft your set is not cheap either. Especially if the SC'er has farm toons because below a certain price they can make more money NOT doing your work.

The cost factor is big and its all luck. Some 5.5 OC jobs just go smoothly. Others are a nightmare. Had a 12 piece all MP 5.5 order last week. Took nearly 5 hours and cost like 2.5p in mats because the luck wasnt on my side. As for staves, I will rarely do them OC especially when they have three focus gems. Had some take 1.5-2h easy and its not worth it.

The largest variable in price which no one has mentioned so far is speed of delivery. When can you get their order done OR when do they want it done (hint: Most of the time it is RIGHT NOW and sorry that isn't going to happen). You can shop around for price and a guild or alliance crafter might do you a solid deal but you won't see it for a few weeks. The risk I guess of waiting a little to deliver the product is if they never come back but in this case i will just use the gems on other jobs.

I prefer text files. I don't use 3rd party software usually

.mox files always appreciated, saves me 5 min not having to input the values by hand. I wouldn't charge extra for txt files however.

YES!

Going rate is 400g /OC item...I admit I wanted to do it cheaper until some other SCs told me not to ruin the prices.
In the meantime I guess it's ok because some necro players told me they would gather more money by the time I was SCing a complete set. So the price seems to be...ok...

I always try to give some special treat to the guys I'm doing SC for...even if it's only for some endu/pom reg potions :D

Topenga, if you want to do it cheaper go for it! It won't wreck the market. You only have so many hours you want to devote to it and you would run out of time. As I said, I know people who do SC jobs for 300 or so per and one or two that do it for Mats + tip (usually less than 150-200g per item total). The SC market can take it. Try if you want.

I'm probably the cheapest SCer on hib atm... and I charge 350g per OC piece (to make all 99+ gems) to non-guildies or friends

Friends I don't charge (if they press I give them the mats cost which is generally 500g - 1p depending on luck and gems etc).

I just don't take orders all that often. I'll make do one non-guildie or friend order a week. The main reason is that I don't need the money. I have around 10p of cash sitting on my toons and nothing really that I care about spending it on. I also don't advertise my SCing either, so usually people who use me have simply found out about my SCer one way or another... and it's usually a several day wait to get SCIng done.

However, standard going rate on hib atm is 400g per OCed piece, although some are doing 450g. And some people will charge 100-200g if it's not in the .mmr or other SCing calc file type.

I will say that I get tips 50% of the time, whereas the people that charge 400g per almost never do.

===================================================================

As for making staves. When I make staves I keep all of the non 99% focus gems. I make level 8 99/MP staves with my ACer (which had some fletching for leveling metalworking).

I put 3x 50 focus + 3 power into each stave and you have an awesome pve / leveling staff. I can also go a little overboard and put an acuity charge into it as well.

Then I give the staves to guildies or sell them on my CM for 120g each (200 with acuity charge). That way I basically make my money back + a little extra for all my focus gems. If I make a 99 gem while filling out the other focus gems I just stash it for when I get a staff order.

I tried the charge less and go for tips but you end up making less for the same time. But after you have temps and spare plat, doing orders becomes well something to ignore
