Go out and run zergs. I haven't for a few weeks due to RL stuff but Torcan and Dainsleif have been running them on Albion NA times frequently. Sometimes we find action vs zergs, other times you need to ****** in a few Cheerio's to get people out, etc.

I can see where the zerg appearing ****** off some of the inflexible 8 mans, but largely what I've seen from that side of the community is an acknowledgement that zerg combat needs to happen for the server to maintain people.

Nobody wants their 8v8s added on constantly, every single day, but many of them realize it's bound to happen, and 8v8s will play with/around a zerg, or group together to give a zerg a good fight if they can.

The 8v8 community isn't killing the server as the title says - if anything, it's a majority of the PvP going on right now. It's the only mode of PvP that yields consistent and sizeable gains to RP as the "zerg" combat doesn't yield much and the keep siege game is weak because this server uses barebones mechanics for sieges.

DAoC is nothing different than other games, gamers wants in most cases to be the best and play at their top ability, this in DAoC means optimal 8man setups for most people. this means a warrior will never be replaced by a thane, it means you wanna win on equal terms. If you wanna beat elite groups cause you suck (hiding by the statement casual) just zerg them. It was like this in 2003 and it will be like this forever

Building upa pug is tedious enough, a zerg even more so, thisis why you constantly See set grps, but not zergs.

Set grps take care to be the "majority of the PvP" by their behaviour. The true frontier in rvr is not Alb vs Mir vs Hib, its "esports" like set grps vs. casuals.
Up to a point where realm A and B set grps team up vs. Random class/pug setups so they can continue their sandbox playstyle in "their" ruleset afterwards. Since, and I quote here, "there is nothing to gain in winning vs. random pugs".
