Yesterday we had a big RvR-BG, we were Raiding Keeps and even Relic Keep was an opinion. It happened two times that a level 1 char entered the bg, obviously a spy account from the other realm. It happened in Hibernia and in Midgard. I like doing open bgs so that everyone from the realm can join, but for future i think we have to do private bgs with invitation for any relic action.

Do the other realms have that problem too? Is the stuff aware of that problem and are further steps taken to avoid this? What is the right way to report spy accounts? We did ingame "/appeal <name> Spy Account", is that enough?

Happens a lot when Hibernia attacks or defends relics that these lvl1 accounts join... Bg leaders have to check every few min to kick them out... totally not cool :x

I personally don't think this is any kind of a real serious problem. With the x-zone spam back, /who botting is almost obsolete and as far as raids etc. go - most Discord servers are already populated by people from opposing realms, so really nothing is ever secret to anyone.

This.

Also, everyone owns a cell phone nowadays.

Every cell phone can turn into a hotspot.

Ergo, everyone has the potential to spy.

The best solution is to accept it and put a password on your BG so randoms can't join in that easily.

I don't like what spying does to the game and yet... If it's done in a way that isn't against Uthgard rules then we can see it as a meta game. Battles aren't ONLY fought by warriors but also by spies. How the spying is done is important.

Let's say a realm is planning a relic raid. They would like to know how many enemy players are on line near the targeted relic keep. Can they send a tell to a stealther near that keep? Of course. Can one of the raiders log in his/her stealther to check? Of course.
Can the raid leader log in their other account which has a spy parked in the other realms PK? Not allowed for one person to have accounts on more than one realm. In between are some grey areas.

I would make a CG or Voicechan too, only for group leader, to avoid that problems. There you can spread detailed informations.
And maybe a eye on low lvl chars in a bg. Shared ip is an issue, maybe we have accept that and protect such raids.

Difference is that spies in real life can actually be punished if caught. Unfortunately on this server you cannot kill your realm mates...as much as you would like to sometimes.

This is the wrong way to handle it.
1. Do not do vigilante justice
2. Killing a player in DAoC does not prevent him from reading chat, so even if you could kill you had gained nothing
3. You should report it to the proper authorities which happen to be available using /appeal
