Hi Guys,
I used to play on that server long time ago. Since the release back on the 1.65 I really want to go back but I would like to have few info. First there are RvR zone for Lvl 20-25 / 30 - 35 & 43-49? Or Only Emain? Also Now I wont be able to play as I used to play (wife + job) yes I am missing my Student lazy life. ![]() Anyway I dont know what I need to build as class. I will mainly solo or duo/trio with few friends, but I dont know if there is that many solo players on Uthgard on only Zerg or Guild Group. My first choice will be to play SB but I am scared to wait ages before have a decent 1vs1 so I might go for a Skald. Could you give me more insight regarding the actual RvR on Uthgard? What do you recommend ? do you think It worth to play an SB on that server of the population is not big enough? Thanks I appreciate guys. Spewy. |

Hi and welcome,
There are BGs but they are mostly unused due to the nature of the server ruleset(1.65). If you want to solo/duo/trio you should play a skald instead of an SB if those are your choices. This also depends on what your friends plan on making though...obviously if they are making stealthers you would want to play a stealther and not a skald. No matter what class you play you should expect to be zerged down on this server. It is just something you have to accept playing here. Most of the rvr revolves around 8v8, but there are still some zergs running at different times of the day. I would recommend playing a skald because you can do all of the above with the class, solo/small/8v8/zerg. Also being a speed class is almost necessary, not only to avoid people trying to zerg you but also just being able to get anywhere in a timely manner. There is no fast travel on this server due to the nature of the ruleset(1.65). Koochi made the beta quit.

Hello Spewy!
The battlegrounds are there, with 20/24, 25/29 and 30/35 zones. Of course, all the classic RvR zones are also there and pretty active for each realm.
It depends on the realm you'd like to play on.
If you plan to solo, I would advise you to play a class with a speed and some CC, or a stealther.
SB, or Skald, both will need the experience to have decent fights and a good rp per hour ratio. If you go in the wrong zone, in the wrong moment of the day, you may meet too many, and not enough players. It has always been what is awesome with DAoC, you need to know your class, and your opponent's one, but you also need to know the zone and the habits of your enemies.
RvR is pretty fun, depending on the moment of the day and who you are playing with. You may want to avoid the very high rank 8v8 groups, but you can still switch for another RvR zone and always hunt solo/duo.
I've played stealthers on Uthgard 1, and I'm playing one now. It is a good bet in RvR, even if it takes a lot of time to level up and stuff your character. Usually, I advise my friends to start with a BD/Animist/Necro to make money, and then trade PL to have their stealther levelled up, while they are also farming for salvage. Of course, you will always have comments from salty kids who would like to have a i50 server where you are TP to a unique zone and where you don't need to do anything besides "F6-DD", but I'm sure you are not this kind of players and you'd like to enjoy Uthgard for what it is, a very nice battleground where personal investment, skill and combat experience are highly rewarded. You need to know how to read a map, and to understand what are people's habits tho, which requires common sense, something that a large part of the server population lacks a lot. I hope it helps. Looking for a DAoC 1.65 classic server.

Welcome to Uthgard 2.0.
Dont expect any ELements you had, when played on Uth 1. Its a new Server now, so try it and enjoy your stay. Ofc, there are some points which are rough to take, but its still fun when you can play with the right people. We have some of everything in rvr, you can solo a little (again: dont expect Uth1 ![]() What Class do you want to play? That´s a heavy question. There are no FOTM, but ofc some classes are better for solo / smallmen then others. What about a Bard Ench Menta trio? Or a Skald / shami / Berzi (which have incredible peak point dmg around 1400 with Tundra), or more the Albside of Daoc, Minst + 2 Scouts/Infi is even pretty funny to play. Danke Uthgard für 10 Jahre

This was a bug is no longer the case since issue 4166 was resolved almost 4 weeks ago. https://www2.uthgard.net/tracker/issue/4166/ News || Getting Started || Rules || Issue Tracker
Coloured text represents my personal opinion and is not associated with Uthgard Staff nor is it an official statement. |

You are on the right track with a melee toon, this is a melee patch.
Except for pots being expensive and one charge. https://www.uthgard.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=37632
Players can greatly contribute to a server if you let them. Uthgard, still the best server. Thanks, Devs. |

They nerfed zerkers to balance things a bit, now its the minstrels turn.
|

They didn't nerf zerk, they fixed a bug. That's true, lot of bugs to be fixed for minstrels (here is a few examples) : https://www2.uthgard.net/tracker/issue/2489/iframe https://www2.uthgard.net/tracker/issue/2586/iframe https://www2.uthgard.net/tracker/issue/4186/iframe I can't wait for them to be fixed ![]() |

Yeah well you picked the easiest class in the game because you need training wheels I guess to win, no actual skill required, just a red pet to do all the work for you and you are good right?

Will you stop crying about this crap? It's how DAoC works and was designed at the patch level chosen for Uthgard. I play Alb - does it seem unfair? Yeah, a bit. That is what was chosen though. Even today on live Minstrels still run around with fully buffed Templars and whatnot ripping face. You could make this argument for many classes. It's an asymmetric game designed with some really hard counters and brutally effective classes and others that are mere fodder. I'd love to see attempts to balance it out - but that was never what Uthgard was about. |
|
No you can't make that argument for most classes because most classes are dependent on other people, is it unfair "a bit" give me a ****** break, its massively unfair. Unless you are victim to a red charmed pet then don't talk you have 0 input worth contributing on this matter.

Just because mythic had something a certain way in 2002 doesn't mean that's how it should be here. Mythic made a lot of terrible decisions, uthgard could easily introduce some balance here and mins would still be very strong.
