Crashing Issue

Hi there. I'm new to these forums, and still new to this whole free shard thing. Anyway, whenever I log in, I crash shortly after beginning game play. I've never actually counted the minutes before it crashes, but generally 5-10 minutes of playing before it just freezes. Basically, the screen freezes and regardless of what I press on the keyboard (i.e. Esc, ctrl+Alt+Del, etc.) it does nothing, as though my keyboard is locked up. If there is any sound such as running or in-game music, it just sounds like its hung up or skipping repeatedly very fast (same note over and over in repetition. The only thing I can do is power down my computer.
This is the only program this happens with and only since I downloaded the game that this happens so I know its nothing from previously. I am currently fully patched as far as I know. I did the path with full file scan or whatever that was twice to make sure it got everything, but still crashing. Much more and I'll just have to give up and not play. Any thoughts? |

A few ideas to this :
- Is your Game version higher than 1.89 ? You can see the Version Number while the Game is loading in the left uppen screen corner. If so, you need to patch to the EU-Version 1.89. Infos to this patch can be fond here http://www.uthgard.the-bart.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4284 Thats cause the Uthgard-Server is not compatible with 1.90 yet. - Is your maschine equipped with an AMD Dual Core prozessor ? I also had those problems when i got my AMD DC an i needed to install a windows driver for it from the AMD home page. The problem is (on some versions of Win XP) the the game can not handle the Core-Switching prozess on higher performance needs. Do you use Windos Vista and a game Version lower than 1.87 ? There where some issues the Game-Versions lower 1.87 are not running correctly on Vista. So patching on 1.88 ore 1.89 is the thing to do, like sayd above. I hope i could help |

I do appreciate your response. In answer to your questions:
1. Currently running version 1.88 or 1.89. I know it's no higher than that. 2. No it is not a dual core, although it is an older AMD processor. That shouldn't be an issue I think. 3. I'm currently running Windows XP Service pack 2. The only thing I can think this is caused by is either my video settings being too high, which I doubt, or a corrupt installation. I guess unless I hear different from anyone here, I may just uninstall then re-install. I'd rather not due to time restrictions, but oh well, you do what you have to do. |

i had the same some time ago, i changed my bullguard anti virus to NOD32 and the problem was solved

I'm at a loss for words. I updated Direct X and made sure the client was up to date. I updated my video card drivers and now I get Renderer Creation Failed on all of my games that use some sort of 3D graphics.
Any more ideas? |

Through my searching, I have seen this many times. As I've said, I've updated my drivers for both DirectX and my video card. And this is not a problem with just DAoC. Anything that uses 3d gets this message. I've updated everything to the best of my knowledge, but still that damn message. Not sure if this helps, but when my crashing issues first started within this game, the rest of my games or what have you were operating fine. As soon as I updated my card drivers and DirectX, nothing would play and everything gets the Renderer Creation Failed error. |

I need some more information before I am able to help you. Please follow the steps I give you, and supply me with the information, thank you.
System Information
[2] If it asks you to send information, just hit <Yes>. [3] In the middle of the first page, I need the following information...
[B] System Manufacturer [C] System Model [D] Processor [E] Memory [F] Page File [G] DirectX Version [5] Give me all the information under the area named 'Device'. [6] Tell me which 'DirectX Features' you have enabled. [7] Tell me exactly what it says under 'Notes'. -Phaze |

Wow; although your videocard isn't the best, it shouldn't be causing your total-freeze problem... Let's look into this a little more deeper...
[1] Do you play any other games that put as much stress on your videocard that DAoC does? [2] Ventilation-wise, for your tower, what do you have? [3] Run DAoC, let it crash (restart if you need to), and do the following.
[B] Click Applications first, and see if there are any Errors. [C] Click System, and see if there are any Errors there. [4] Check your video card's website, and look for the newest driver as well, it's a long shot, but a shot none the less. |
|
1. The only other game I currently play occasionally is WarRock, which is rather graphic intensive. 2. As for ventilation, I know I need more fans in my case, but it's not an option for at least a few weeks as I'm going to be a bit busy and won't have the chance to get another fan put in. My temps are not a problem though really as I have kept track of that in the past and it was never a problem. 3. A. Ran it B. Under application, it says " Failed application game.dll, version 0.2.0.0, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x00018fea. C. Under System, it has 8 consecutive errors within 4 seconds that says "CRT invalid display type. 4. As for video card drivers, everything is updated and has been. I just updated it again 2 days ago now, when I tried one of the previously mentioned fixes. |
|
Your error (100% certain) relates to your videocard. Can't tell you how to really fix it because you just updated it...

You are awesome. I had a thought that's what it was getting to be, but thank you so much for helping me through this.
I think I'll try to update the drivers one more time before anything else. Couldn't hurt I guess. One question and please excuse me for my ignorance about this, but would attempting to uninstall then reinstall the video card help? If so, do i just take it out and put it back in? I feel quite ignorant about this for someone who built their own computer, but either my brain is fried or something but I'm not sure how to go about that. |

Yes, uninstalling / reinstalling your video-card drivers could fix your problem...
I'll do my best to walk you through it.
[2] While booting, before the Windows Loading screen, but after Bios Post, continually tap your F8 key. [3] When a black/white menu comes up, choose the 'Safe Mode with Networking' option. [4] Allow Windows to boot, and log in as usual (don't worry about the graphics / low resolution, in Safe Mode, not too many drivers are loaded). [5] After logged in, right click My Computer, and hit Properties. [6] Under the 'Hardware' tab, click 'Device Manager'. [7] In the new window, under 'Video Adapters' is where your video-card drivers are stored, just right click your video-card, and click 'Uninstall'. [8] Let it do it's thing, and reboot your system normally, and reinstall your drivers from the webstie. If you have any problems, post here, I'll help as fast as I can... As well, you don't have to print / write this down, you'll be started in 'Safe Mode with Networking' so you can just open a browser and come back here. |
