this server is already an 8v8 server. its set-up fights in discord... the whole 9 yards.
this isnt the same daoc we remember from before. Whether you like it or not, the 8mans have a system and rules. Those rules apply even if you aren't an 8man. If you add, they will pull off and let the enemy kill you. This practically ruined late-night NA rvr. Just watch the death spam. the same 8 that killed someone in odins is killing the same 8 in briefine 5-6 mins later.

DraakOG if we arranged fights as seriously as you say I'd spend alot less time searching empty zones than I do, I actually wish this dream world you imagine existed so my rp/hour would go up. Also population decline killed NA rvr and it would take god like speed to go from odins to breifine in 5 mins, but those are only minor falsehoods compared to the rest of your post.

This is true, on Uth1 my solo theurg was left alone by most groups, even some Drachen groups left me alone.

If you:
Gank greys
Add fights
Run in groups that does the above

And similiar you will be hit by fg’s even if you that specific day have decided to suddenly stop the above.

I used to kill everything and anything back in 2003 but there were hundreds of thousands of players with tons of fights going on all over the place. Those are no longer even close to the conditions we face therefore choosing not to grief a solo who spent 15m running from DL - Amg can be viewed in a different context than before.

I believe the 8-man mentality is against the spirit of the game.

I have never added to an 8-man, but that doesn't mean I think people colluding with one realm while playing another aren't being jerks. And I especially don't like it when I die to an 8-main because I did not add.

I also play a ranger from time to time, and I would never ever add a fight. It's not because I'm a diehard fan of 8v8 "rules" (even though that's my prefered playstyle otherwise), it's because I think it's important to have a good relation with the people in ones realm. Adding gives absolutely nothing except a few rps, but in return you sacrifice friends. MonkaS and 99% of the 8 man oriented in Hib are really nice people, and If I respect them and their playstyle, guess what? They will show the same respect back. I give them intels once in awhile about fgs, and guess what? They give me intels about solos now and then. That is exactly the kind of culture I like to see.

Now the sad part. Rangers have a bad reputation atm. Many people who don't know you automatically treat you like you are the guy who will add everyone and everything. Many times I run past a fight, and instantly get tells "don't add" etc. And quite frankly it kinda sucks. I fear though that there is a reason for it, I get the feeling that many active rangers and known adders. It's sad.
