wanted to play mid. guy who told me about uthgard was playing hibernia and i was upset but did it anyway. Was gonna play a blademaster but after not playing daoc for 10 years the character movement is really slow compared to other games. As soon as i right clicked an NPC bard and it didn't give me speed i quickly rerolled bard. More quality of life should have been added imo but that's another thread.
ANyway I played bard not knowing what 1.65 was all about. Why don't we get MOC? who knows. Also thanks to rocknrolla i found out battlebard could be done and had a blast doing that. Now I actually get to run valewalker in groups and it is probably the most fun i've ever had in daoc. I still wish I was mid because they obviously have the power creep. 30 second melee snare compared to everyone else 10-15 seconds? Savage obviously just a tier above every other light tank. Re use timers are quicker than others. Why is every other time a 30 minute or 15 minute but they have a 7 minute timer? ANyway I'm here on hib til phoenix and will try to beat the other realms. We are definitely underdogs but we are also one of the few 8 mans on NA that play hib so at least people get to fight something different. Feels good in that regard. |

Even us hibbies miss the crap out of Split and Poler. We all get excited every time we see Split spam. Gets us all zerg happy. Bring your lowest expectations and your sense of adventure!

To be honest after tonight i think evem more of us are done. Hibs chased us across 3 realms. Half our BG was sub 50 tonight. Some greys/green cons. And no matter where we go, here comes the RR6-9 zerg like jackals. Frustrated Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk |

Well, in fairness, we don't see levels at the start, we just see 28 on Beno, which of course attracts attention when there's so little else out. TBH I was surprised you guys didn't return to Hurb when it was only 1fg + a solo add inside, but we weren't going to sit there and wait forever. It's also generous to say we even had a zerg tonight, as I don't even know that we had a bg. Anyways, to answer the original question, I played Hib on live for the majority of my subscription period, and I was introduced to Uthgard by some guildies who had already leveled up on Hibernia here. I would have been interested to try a different realm, but I'm happy playing with the friends I've made here so it seems unlikely I'll change. |

Piggybacking off of this, this zerg mentality was the problem we encountered during our time on Alb and then Hib. We would run a group of 8 during NA night time (8pm - midnight EST) and would have to zerg dodge hoping to find another group. We aren't even good, tbh, so don't think of us as an 8man looking to feast on casuals, we just wanted fair 8v8 fights instead of 20v8. We found it frustrating that given the size of the alb/hib zerg, nobody would run as a group of 8 even if there was no other zerg out (this is definitely the most frustrating part... if there is no other zerg to fight, the zerg stays a zerg and won't split into smaller groups. Makes no sense). The preference seemed to be 20vDoor instead of potentially group vs group or small man vs small man. That's fine if that is how players want to play, but it is the reason we quit. Nothing to fight on a regular basis. On top of this, I'll add that we actively campaigned to *bring people back* during NA times, using the Tacos thread as a motivator. Operation NA it was called. We brought back almost a full group of former NA players who all proceeded to quit a month later citing the abysmal action and zerg v door as the main reason. |

Nothing out there for a rr3-4 group to fight. Not to mention the difficulty in building a group in 1.65 alb. NA time doesnt have enough action to support 8 man style rvr at a casual level, only hardcore. So id say bg is the only alternative, however it seems the hib bg is currently made up of very few casual players anymore. Its only exp demise and astro turf. That leaves alb the only casual players left. Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk |

I don't feel like restating my whole reasoning behind this.
Go back to your PvE and help players out open up DRs and etc. to more people/classes and make it a more enticing and friendly environment. Also get less solo ganking minded players on minstrels so you dont have to run sorc speed like I saw a lot of in the past when I was in Alb. I used to /who minstrels when we couldnt find them for RvR in Alb and always more than enough on yet none participating. Spread the wealth and xp a bit. Necroes hogging everything is bad, as well as not participating in RvR events/defenses because you want to farm more. Getting more wealth to do nothing with is absolutely pointless. Those people upset about this "zerg mindset" could probably fix it by being more polite. when I was rr2-3 and participating in zergs because the rr6+ 8mans throw you in a garbage can usually. I've had some very rude 8v8s and that WILL not call for respect from anyone. Also, I see all the other 8mans do just fine finding 8v8s. |

It sounds like you're saying XpD only allows XpD and Astronauts into Zergs. That's identifiably false. XpD is simply the largest US guild around (I think? I assume? I don't believe Blazed is larger than XpD), so you see more purple cloaks than anything else. XpD has absorbed a large number of other guilds in the past few months as guilds dissolved (at least one other large guild rerolled Midgard recently), and also taken in a TON of Albion refugees over the past couple of months. There are other guilds, and everyone is welcome (the bg's are always public); indeed, other guilds will often lead, as well. But yes, you are correct, the Hib zerg is pretty seasoned at this point. Aside from the aforementioned Albion refugees, there's not a lot of new blood in Hibernia, and the folks who enjoy zerging still enjoy zerging. Naturally they've gained realm points and generally a better awareness of how to play together, just like any other group of gamers. Which brings me to my next point: you mentioned earlier that you were about ready to throw in the towel after getting chased across realms, while your zerg was sporting greys and greens. This game has never been forgiving of losing and, while it sucks, there area clearly areas where you can look to objectively see your realm continue to grow -- levels, templates presumably -- after which you will see notable improvements, I promise (and you can start playing with tactics, yay!). But it sounds to me like the biggest differentiator between Hibs of three months ago and current-state Albs is that Hibs, when rolled, came back the next day (you can see a post from a couple of months ago laughing at Hibbies as they continue to go out after they get rolled -- felt bad, but it's a good example of the ... uh ... lemming-like state that Hibs sometimes find themselves in). Sounds like Albs might not be up for that. Which is too bad, but I'm not going to judge someone for choosing to spend their time differently. That said, this is a problem that was prolific in Live back in the olden times, too -- most servers had 2 'real' realms, and one realm where nothing really happened except good efforts with no results (or sometimes 1 real realm with 2 sub-par realms, which worked better because the 2 realms could gang up on the 1 major realm). The only difference is that here, folks tend to move realms within a server, where that was not an option in Live without deleting your toons. There, folks simply moved servers. But don't presumse that the Hib zerg is any better than another zerg that's been running for a while. See also: We Play For Keeps a la August 2017. Alainna

Agree, its not a judgement on hib.....its frustration with alb. I dont blame hibs because albs have sub 50s.... On the other hand, the 1.5 ish groups of 50s wanna pvp. But getting rolled by 2-3x our numbers is no fun. People log. So we spam lfg and alliance for people and we get what we get. 113 people on, 27 50s. About 12 of them with us in RvR. So whats our options? 8v8? Not as casuals on alb against the current climate. Maybe if i could get 8 people on 5-6 nights a week, but thats not gonna happen, as i have already stated, were casual, maybe a bit more than casual. BG? trying that with little success. Just keep it guild only? Or 50 only? Switch to a realm thats not as unforgiving in group comps, etc....join hib and have no one to fight, go mid and hope exp demise still running 3 months from now when we hit 50? Atleast alb still tries, gotta give em that. Mid gave up 6+ months ago. It sucks loosing leaders, but it hurts more when those leaders take a number of seasoned players with them. The problem is all the rerolls that went over to Hibernia you get no action from Midgard unless it's high RR Mids. On Albion side we run a group or 2 and have to spend most of our nights taken back keeps that were taken during Euro time or either before we log on.
Then when you do decide to take keeps and form a group that can have heals as well as some sort of speed with crowd control you run out only to get assjamed after droping a ram on the outer door b/c the zerg and zerg surfers only wait for the flames before attacking. Sadly Open field fighting here is dead unless you actually 8 man and even then you get added on. - Syska Animist

Prime example of Albion.
Someone tried to get a regular 8 man going. And I commend him for this. I have a template, rr4+ cleric with all the tools to go. I cannot commit to this as I prefer doing other things with my free time. Albion = casual. Got an hour to spare? Go farm on a necro. All my wood drops went to Ramiye for door stuff, I didn't have to, but, he used to run around out of his own plat sorting doors out. Shame he left. However, going back to a post before, I only rvr if splits about, and only if I'm in splits group as I've been in bg and people are lfg but the (non guild) group wanted to run as a smallman" to cut the dead weight" cue me apologising to the Guild chat and loggimg in disgust to play something elsr. Don't think i bothered since. This is on a night I could commit at least 4 hours+. Wakefield 50 Rej Cleric
