The trees make me lag like there is no tomorrow... even with atlantis trees off. What can i do??
P.S. My friend is having the same trouble as me! |

Look at the options. There can set down trees, shadows and water effects.

The client options?
Like so? Even when set to lowest everything (except resolution) the trees still lag like crap... Things are set to "highest FPS" option (with middle terrain not far) I still lag when looking at trees... thats the only thing that lags like crap The graphic section, everything is checked off, windowed, atlantis, everything is off. All other settings are on lowest possible. So im doomed? |

Uncheck:
- Use Atlantis Trees Deactivating this option changes the tree models back to classic skin. With those it shouldn't lag anymore. |
|
There is also some more room for performance gains:
- Use Atlantis Terrain: Can be unchecked, too. - Dynamic Shadows: Can be unchecked, too. - Water Options: You could try to reduce to Shrouded Isles Water or even Classic Water Happy hunting!

Yeah those are unchecked...
Its just the trees that make me lag, even if classic... So i changed it to windowed 960x600, or w/e and it works fine, a lot less lag with trees! I did have those options off, i just took a stock image from camelot's FAQ database lol |

Get new graphics card ![]() |

even with my gf2 mx 400 was not that much lag through trees. only thing that could lag my pc really hard (1.6 athlon xp,gfx above,512 mb sd.ram) have been the flying mobs in df.

I think I had the same card once, and I never rememberd any lag with trees Whats your spec vampir? |

Playing with a MacBook... no graphic card except the GM945 integrated card. No lags.

Well, there was a time when you had been able to play DAoC on 500HZ, 256MB RAM
and a Riva TNT2 gfx card. That was the time of the very first released client ![]() Even though you choose to use low-quality trees and textures (pre ToA) the current clients have been changed and pushed more towards todays standarts to be able to compete in terms of graphics-quality. But, with the possibility to increase your graphics-quality there comes the need of a new gfx engine. Even if you switch to ToA char models, pre toa trees and textures the models and textures will still be handled within the Cata/DR gfx engine meaning you will need a very much better computer than you needed when daoc was released. However, a todays low-medium range should be able to handle the DAoC client, but you should always consider one thing - DAoC needs RAM ^^ with regards sethor Characters:

Specs:
1.68 GhZ GeForce 2 MX/400 256 RAM And someone said on DoL, there is a thingy that lets you tweak gfx options or something in guildwars, and its called 3dsomething (yeah i know, not too descriptive) and it might work for DAoC... supposed to tweak things like enable/disable options |

get more ram!
|
|
You definately need more ram. Windows uses around 150-300 megs of ram, once thats up, it uses virtual ram from the hard drive, which is alot slower. When you are in game, control alt and delete and say what it says beside commit charge at the bottom. My daoc uses 500 megs, or around (with no other programs on, just daoc ) 700 megs- 1 gig of memory when playing.... The extra ram will make a HUGE difference, possible to framerate, and definately to loading times (I used to play daoc on 256, upgraded to 768 and it was 2-3 times faster) |
|
I have a ram "nullifier" which clears my ram, and then i can get nearly 180-190 / 256 free. Yeah i know i need more ram, but right now im doomed... im completely broke, this comp is like 8 years old. Il get a new one in a year or 2, im sure of that... I can play DAoC decently, I just tweaked my nvidia down to high performance instead of "performance" so this should help a lil. Anyway, the game actually gives me like 15-20 megs free ram when its running. So i have some ram left, but at loading times, it uses it all up. Not very fast, but... not that slow. + I run windowed!
