Mid Imbalance = Low Uthgard Pop

New situation: with relics mercs deal dmg like skalds, Hib casters nuke like hell so we are all fine, stop crying/flaming and come more out for rvr?

I think Euro peak play time the server is healthy, plenty of fights/action. It's NA time that things... well just die. Server dips to 100 or just under and very few go out to fight.
How to convince NA players to stop playing on that other server and come back? ![]() - Inqy/Spymistress/Sly -

Not coming back. That other server actually listens to and engages with its players |
|
You can't. Other server is actually fun and progressing a lot, with lots of quality of life changes. Levelling is also a lot faster. Classic feel without the cumbersome part - just perfect. |

Read this thread in about 7-8 months or a year, then eat your words. Let me explain basic human psychology to you. If you get things with little or no effort, they quickly become boring and meaningless. 90% or more of people who say "yes I would love to rvr but xp is so slow" are not cut out for daoc and would quit eventually, and this has been proven so many times on uthgard1 and 2 that there is no point discussing it, especially because the most elite groups that hate pve had no problem leveling 50s even on uthg1. So basically, Phoenix offers way too many things at once and people will get bored. Reskins are meaningless if everyone has them and if they're easy to acquire. The thing is, already now on Phoenix all the excitement and "surprise" element of the game is not there because set groups have arranged fights all the time. They'll eventually get bored of fighting the same old groups and casuals will quit soon because their rr10 still won't be enough to compete with any kind of set group or a decent pug. So what happens after you've quickly leveled your 10th 50 and they're all rr7? Then they'll introduce buffbots(same as on Genesis) and that will eventually kill the server. Without the grind there is no enjoyment. I agree uthg could do with some QoL but a massively customized server with 90% of stuff being instant is not the answer. But yeah, let's see. It is what it is.

sorry, mate, but if that server feels "classic" to you, may god have mercy on your soul ![]() |

Usually your post are full of hate and nobody like u very much here, but this time your analysis is right, having all too fast kill the interest of the game, and I'm very pessimistic about the server you wrote, so much fun in few hours then nothing... |

You failed to miss the entire point of my post. My point was not that short term imbalance is a problem which needs to be corrected. There will of course be statistical noise which leads to one realm temporarily having an advantage over the other realms. Take the current relic situation as an example. In the last week, the server has gone from all 6 relics having been held by Midgard, to Albion holding 5 and Hibernia 1, to now Albion holding 3 and Hibernia holding 3. These types of fluctuations are expected and are healthy. The problem is when these fluctuations are biased in favor of a certain outcome. Over a long time-average, all 3 realms should have an approximately equal share of relic time. What you fail to understand is that the share of relic time (among other measures of prosperity) is not - and has not - been equal. Midgard not holding relics for a week doesn't balance out with Midgard holding all 6 relics for more than a month. I'll give legitimacy to your argument if Midgard doesn't hold a relic between now and the second half of November. Furthermore, it's naive to think people will come back to the server when "not Midgard" is winning when they left because only Midgard has won for so long. People who get tired of the status quo move on to find a new home don't care about Uthgard anymore. |

My intention was bring player back in RvR. I understood your posting. Situation for "Casuals" in RvR is a hell and no Barbieland but Its alltime and all servers the same: organized zerg > zerg > setup group > group > small > stealther > solo. Well as a Mid, that Ripbro playing keep take simulator (**EDIT: Need to correct this, He don't have any other options then doing that. sadly..) and took back the relics especially the str relics is the ****** best shiit that has happend to us this time around. There is a reason why we poke the str relic.. And Its not because we really want or need them. If we really want them, we can take them! As proven this weekend.
![]() So thanks for that Ripbro, but my heart do feel for him tho.. NA time can't be fun.. ![]() But regarding the disadvantage with the relic status for having them or not for a long period will have toll on the pop? Well, mjaaa not for mid player base. I do remember coming to this server after like a 15-17 years pause from this game, lvl up fast as ****** to 50 and go out to see hibs having all relics for like 2-3 months or something, steam rolling almost everything except the high rr groups. Still we casual mids was out and running. The problem is not the relic's advantage/disadvantage, It is the players own spirit to face hard times. I agree 100%. It's MUCH more about player morale than server design. Imagine if Flump and Reallydirty moved their groups to Hibernia. Hib would be dominating in about 1 month. It took Ripbro about 1 month to level up and gear up. Gil DaTroll - Merlin Zerker | MacDeath - Uth1 Armsman | Gil - Uth2 Zerker | Macdeath - Uth2 Armsman

Load of rubbish. The relic and player situation has been the same for month's now. If Midgard wants to, they can take back the relics at any time. The same can be said for the realmpoint distribution. For month's now Midgard has hade the same amount as the other 2 realms combined.
This whole it's a "mentality" thing of the 2 other realms is laughable. As if there is a different kind of playerbase on the other 2 realms. The staff are trying to get players to group up and PvE like Midgard does (preferbly in the frontier zones, which is dominated by Midgard). Melee heavy, no pets. While the other 2 realms are far more orientated towards (pet) casters. Same goes for PL'ing aswell. It's been nerfed into the ground. So yeah, the other 2 realms don't have the numbers. For Hibernia the animist class still is bugged beyond recognition. Basically the goto character for defense. But let's not go OT too far. Let's just say it's a mentality thing and when it comes to that, Midgard players are far superior too the other 2 realms. They are just a whiny bunch of slackers. hi, i dont had read the whole thread, only for the title my opinion: i dont have a problem to die on a evening for 10 times..its a incentive to play better and think about tactics to beat the enemy somehow....sure, its useless to run with 2 fg hibs against 3fg mids with rr7/8/9/10 but if the numbers are mostly the same there is a chance to kill some if all utilities of hibernia are used....look at these castergang from alb with kabalix, they killed flump-grp sometimes in 1:1 if i noticed that correct.
