Hiho!

Is 5 point overcharge possible on Uthgard? I used to play an SCler on live and never have blown up a 5,5 overcharge and I have done a lot.
Here, on Uthgard, I never succeeded one. I have blown masterpiece parts with masterpiece jewels. Currently I have 820 Evocation.
I am using Mora's 1.74 for calculation.

What is wrong?

the answer is simple...
your evocation skill is to low, get 1000+ and you'll succeed every overcharge.

Thx Shadowstalker for fast reply.

On live server I overcharged lvl 51 items with 5,5 points without any probs with as of skilllevel 560.

Is this different in Uthgard?

i think so, never heard about a spellcrafter with 500 skill who did a 5.5 overcharge

the trick is simple..
1. put 3 jewels on
2. combine
3. put last gem in
4. combine

can't blow up, its a garenteed thing :) works like that on live to ;)

Thx Nixian,

this sounds good. I'll give it a try.

However there seems to be a difference on Uthgard compared to live.

On live, since 1.80 maaany changes where made to crafting system, everything got easier (less time, any part of lvl 51 Armor has 36 Imbues etc. even if its 95% quality), maybe there lies the cause if the difference between Uthgard and Live.

Thanks all for your advices.

I skilled my SCler on live long before all these changes. It used to be, the lower the skill of the SCler the better the quality of the gems needed to get a successful OC.

Anyway I will do some testing and let you know

This does not work. Died again :P

Will keep you posted.

well, before the main changes went live on the live servers, you could successfully overcharge with 2x 99%, 2x 98% (with skill 1001+)

on uthgard it can happen that you explode with 2x 99% and 2x 98% ..., so, to be sure it's better to use 3x 99% and 1x 98% as minimum

and anything below! 1001 skill in evocation and +5 (+5,5) oc will explode, except you use 4x 100% gems and have a lot of luck, maybe even lucky with 4x 99% or any combination of 99% and 100% gems, but the chance to explode is always given below 1001

so you do not need to test anything, it's a fact

and razzer, the main change on live was, that the item quality is important for the chance of overcharge in a somewhat combination with the gems, so, you can successfully do a +5,5 with a 99% item and 4x 94% gems, just apply them one by one, and the most important change is, even if you explode, only the gems you tried to insert into the item are lost, not the item itself nor the gems already in
next is, all items got maximum imbues, so a af 102 piece with 94% quality has 32 imbues as well as a piece of af 102 with 100% quality

they made that because of a lot of people were too stupid to use proper gems and/or because of it was too time comsuming to get 2x 98% and 2x 99% ... about 1h - 2h per set was almost standard, except you were very lucky or had only low gems that did not take 40+ seconds to be created

edit: sorry, my english suxx today, anyway, i'm off to work, have a nice day =)

Thx silenced,

you seem to know the business. Thx for your advice!

I exploded on a lvl 40 MP axe with 3 99 gems and one MP gem having 820 in SC. This seemed quite strange to me.

I understand that SC is different on Uthgard even compared to the original state of SC on live servers.

Keep on testing .... leveling to 1001 ^^

Just to close this thread. My SCler is 1009 now.

Silenced was right. You need 1000+ to overcharge. With 4 99 gems you can safely overcharge 5,5 points.

Thanks for help to all who posted here
