hmm Hunter weaker ?

If you skill in Bow, yes than is the Hunter weaker,
but if you skill in spear is the Hunter very strong. ;)
Think this Hunter skill is good (this is the plane from my Hunter)
Spear 50
Bow 13
Stealth 36
Beastcraft 43

for lvl 50

the hunter is weaker than on live because he is missing a lot of beastcraft love from patch 1.85+

also, bow damage is broken, which has yet been reported.

I won't turn this into a whine thread, so let's just say that the hunter is no fotm class.

hunter melee can't compete with that of many other classes eg rangers or assassins.

take rapiz' spec if you want to mess around with buff charges, otherwise get beastcraft.

Prolly i'm wrong (never played a Hunter) but I don't see the advantages of beastcraft in RvR:

-Pet- You can't hide with the wolf around...
-D/Q buff- Just use a drop/crafted charge
-AF buff- Same thing
-Charm- ...

I guess with high bow level you have at least an advantage...

to the pet....
you CAN stealth with it around....
you CAN send it on a foe and stay stealthed...(i suppose that as a bug since actually you are in combat when pet is fighting...but if you are stealthed befor the fight you STAY stealthed.)

to D/Q...
charge is nice..but with beastcraft you can get over the 75 D/Q from the charge. my yellow D/Q already offers me 75D/Q with a value of 62 listed in info.

You can go stealth but your wolf can't so whoever pass and watch a "hunter's avatar" knows you are not far... that's what i meant with "you can't hide" or lets say in most cases you'll lose surprise factor.

To have 75 D/Q buff you need to spec 50 beastcraft!! >> Not viable

well if the hunter run with sticked avatar he is silly...just run with the placed avatar...and command him with HERE araound..than he stop where you called him...in this time he run you are away by far..for exsample...you call your wolf to midmud and place yourself at waterside near albramp....noone will search you there if they see your pet on the other side of field.

my beastcraft is 40 (yellow D/Q) and i have 75 D/Q, with 50 (red D/Q) i am around 87 D/Q because higher effective value than showed dwelve.

Umn don't know, acording to character builder at lvl 40 D/Q buff is +63...

http://daoc.catacombs.com/cbuilder2.cfm?Hunter

And about pet, you can place it very far but if they work as the rest I tested he need long time to come to your position so prolly is useless or too late to rupt a caster and so on...

Eniway as I said never played Hunter so have no gaming exp with it, prolly you know what work better.

yes my dwelve is 63...but the effective buff is +75 for the yellow level 40 D/Q..

and the pet has to be placed in sight...than you stealthand walk away...than you order the pet to attack..the pet hits the foe and you still stay stealthed..now you decide to attack too or just stay hidden.

to the pet, this is a instant cast pet.
In RvR: you run in stealth and look to you victim, if you have found it you look at other players, if it is a caster in near you cast your pet and this add the caster - the can't cast the pet interupt him ;).
And you can kill you victim and than the caster ;9

I have a bow ranger and played a spear hunter also. I have been annihilated by spear hunters before in DF. They hit very hard and have the surpise factor. Behind stun style, move to side for slow then bleeding style then lots of anytime styles or a two part hinder style so you can run off and rehide. I wish my Hero had such good spear styles.

Of course I have rarely seen any stealther class out dual a melee ranger. On this server...Melee ranger > Hunter > Scout / Bow Scout > Ranger > Hunter

I would actually like to see melee tables fixed for these classes and Bow damage upgraded. Ridiculous seeing Melee rangers killing tanks in BG's.

I would go beastcraft to self buff but pots/charges get you almost the same thing and rebuff is just as often. Charges cost BPS though and you wont have that till rvr in Agramon. The speed burst is what everyone forgets about. Get out of jail free card.

I am not sure if the Charm ability is really worth it or not. The wolf is nice but they are for rupting only. Great to sick a pet on a stelther and then use bow while pet is on him and cant hide.

I am not positive but going 50 stealth is better then 36+14 bonus here. You have a better stealth where the bonus just gives you better walking speed. Anyone know this answer for him?

All Melee Tables are set according to live server calculations.. and yes.. Melee rangers do own unbuffed tanks... even on live. The thing is we haven't got buffbots here so Melee Rangers get their share from Pathfinding.

This might've changed a bit since leg weapons were cleaned off. Bow Damage has been priorized for fixing.. but I need Blue to do it.
