Heya, I'm rolling in Albion, and was curious to know what caster would be worth it here on Uthgard.

I'd really prefer something that can solo in RvR if needed, I was thinking of going Sorc, or Air Theurg. Any thoughts on what I should play, as a caster in Alb? I'm not adverse to the Wiz or Cabbie, hehe.

I just wanna be able to group on occasion, and hold my own solo. With the new casting speed reduction to 40%, I think being a caster could be pretty fun here, hehe.

Thanks in advance!

sorc + theu got speed and can be decent solo classes. actually BOTH classes are permanently needed , so you can get the best out of grp rvr and soloing.

kabby is a great soloer. unfortunatly not that often seen in groups. big plus here is the easy pve.

wizzy - just can´t reccoment it unless you got a couple ppl to support you.

actually the castspeed cap got lowered to a normal value. its gonna be almost impossible to reach some of these castspeed caps on uth.the castspeed itself wasn´t changed.

I see, does that mean that being a caster will suck, and I basically have no chance solo, no matter what realms' caster I play? :p

Hmm, I'd probably pick air theurg in that case, then. Solid dps, and speed + ae mez. :D

for solo, you should take a stealther, a speeder or a caster.

i think casters are much more strong than melee chars, solo or in group.

don't be affraid.

if you want a alb char that can play solo or in group, i would tell you cabalist cause you will spec the same way for solo or group.

sorc is maybe more needed on alb ( that's the only caster needed in a group) but if you wanna be solo class, you'll spe matter and it's not the best setup for group ( but mind/body sorc can be ok for solo too)

thergist is less needed in group ( i think it s a crap in a group but that's just my point of view, maybe cause i haven't see how it must be played) there are lot of different way to play this class , some will be more solo some more group oriented.

wizard is not playable solo. often is not the best class in group. but if you can get some wizards together that could be very strong. i see there is another post about smdy that want to play a caster. maybe roll 2 ice wizard together to get fast XP and join us soon in agra.

Panach told you crap about Theurgist ^^Its one of the essential Alb Classes since (if supported well) it can lock down the whole support of an Enemy Group.
Problem is that for Solo the most viable Grp Spec (Earth or Earth/Ice) is not really to strong. So its up to you ^^

Hmm, will a cabbie hit harder than a 36mind (whatever it is body) sorc? I'd assume the cabbie would have an easier time leveling, as well.

What spec do they usually go for leveling? Matter w/3 spirit? And RvR? If I remember right, don't you go 47 spirit for the debuff?

Thanks. ^.^

easiest way to pve would be 3 spirit rest matter - just respec at lvl 50 to your desired spec. fun spec for the bgs also since nobody got capped resists except very few ppl. aoe dot on lower level ppl = mass killspam ^^

solo caster on uth? only with dex pots, d/q charge and acuity charge. But there are still stealther grps who will gank you :)

and panach, I played only theurg in albion on uthgard and I think its the best rupt char in daoc. All enemy sups ruptet -> win
Ofc if you play a wind theurg and you cast 2 wind pets on a det5 + stoicisim tank and nuke for 220 dmg all 1.9 sec, then its crap in grp.

about theu.

if you kite ( that's the best way to win) you can't control the healers and so they are soon free to heal again. and will be close from the fighters.

they are quickly oom.

it's more difficult to runaway from enemies cause you never have speed even if you wan't to get it.

once you spamed some pets and they got killed... you are useless.

you have to cast at least 2 pets on a supporter to keep him busy. in this time you could have nearsight/root him with a cabby that is more powerfull.

theu have no really other utility in group than peting... maybe solo snare but lot of other classes have it.

so in place of a théu, in gorup, i'd take a caba

@Panach, Haste? Dmg Add? BT?
Kite?! Ok with a caster grp, but do you kite with a tank grp?

but its your opinion and in my opinion is the theurg a good grp char.

Personally I would take both ^^
I am assuming direct control.
