Hello everyone,

I played retail DAoC many, many years ago as a Hib. My brother and I just recently found this server and rolled on Midgard to duo.

We are both having trouble finding guides/templates to get back into the rhythm of the game.

So, here are my questions:
What race is best for a shaman? How do you allocate the stats at character creation?
I wanted to go with a cave 42/aug 33 or cave 31/aug 35 spec. How should I spend these points each level (half cave/half aug as I level or all aug)? I'm confused on how to distribute into both areas as I level.

Thanks!
B

Kobold, for race, without a doubt.

As for levelling, I'd go full aug until you cap aug, at 33, or whatever your spec may be.
My reasoning behind that is because, without decent endo, and buffs, (most groups on midgard are tank based) they'd probably get another shaman.

Well thats something I was facing on yesterday, too.

I picked the frostalf - since I'm not the kind of mainstream-player which would mean to roll a Kobold shaman. (Check top 100 Shaman/RPs)

15 dex/10 Pie was my choice. Checkout: http://www.ballx.org/shaman/

If this page is telling the truth, the choice between Kobold <> Frostalf results in:

Frostalf:
Some more dmg/mana/conc

Kobold:
0,1 Sec faster casting, less clickable.

So anyway I decided to get a Frosty because I really think Skill > 0,1 Sec casting time.

While xping I would just suggest until 12 Augmentation -> Endo 2 then get some cave and do as ya want until 35/43/49 :)

Kind regards,

Chrissi

Edit: The Skill advice is based on duo/xping btw. if you plan to xp in bigger grps you should get more aug for sure.

Thank you so much.

So when rolling a Kobold, should I do +15dex / +10 piety?

As a Kobold you got high starting dex (70) so 10 dex will be good enough.

You can go 10 con/10 Piety or 15 Piety, your choice (survivability with 50 Basecon as the third attribute will be reason to get +10 con)

As Chrissi said: Play what you like most. Frosty or Kobold is not the highest difference. All in all the "damaging" stats (Piety here since it effects DoT, Heal, DD-dmg) are more valuable then the "speed" stats (like dex won't bring you hardcore castspeed).

If you think of yourself trhat you can play your class it won't matter if you are Frosty or Shaman. Both are viable.

(Frosty is +15 dex then^^)

If you want to lvl solo then go 12Aug for green Endo and rest Cave.
If you lvl in grp, go full Aug (7 Mend for Braemar!!)

In 50 PvP, pm RUnental for advice ;P

Only thing i have to say: A spec below 41 cave is NOT a (real) Cave shaman

I just checked around and saw that dwarves are an option for shaman? Is this true? Last I heard they weren't.

Just tried it. Dwarves cannot be Shaman on this server. Makes sense.

Nice end spec is 47 cave 8 mend 25 aug with LW2 you can prema sprint and you can cure disease and poison with a 102 spec heal (with frosty piety) also you get the purple (fart) pbaoe disease at 47.
AND when you cast it hurts them.

Depends on what you prefer..
with 25 aug you only have blue endu and the 39 dex/qui spec buff (lv. 21).. means you have to pump at least 3 RA points in lw2 for perma sprint and and 6 points for aug dex 3 (instead 4 points for aug dex 2- which is enough) for a decent dextery. (48 dex/quick buff (lv. 28 provided)

In total 9 points where you compensate your lack of Augmentation.

9 points which are better invested in dmg (wp) or other important RAs.

Your spec is nice for high rr (10+) because you have free points for the missing aug dex and lw2.

Due the lack of keepfights and zergfights where all AoE casters feel at home, there is no need for the 46 red AE DoT.. Also the 47 instant disease is a waste (you'll run fine with the yellow 38 disease).

I tested several specs between 47 and 41 cave. Summarized i can say for solo/smallman, 41 cave, 32-34 aug, 7 mend, wild power 5 is the best choice. Ofc if you have a guild grp and they are social and strange enough, i would prefer 46+ cave.
But you wont see a huge damage difference between 41 and 46.

greetings :)
